Feeling guilty over what I eat

Hi, so this might sound silly but I wanted to get other peoples opinions. I’m half way through my down reg and I’m feeling really guilty if I eat something ‘not healthy’ e.g I had a McDonald’s today because we don’t have any food in. Usually we eat hello fresh meals through the week but today we ran out and we don’t get it delivered again until tomorrow. I now feel really guilty for eating ‘not healthy’ and I’m beating myself up about it. Has anyone else felt like this? X

Hey hun, I’ve been three 3 egg collections and the last one was when I was abroad not having access to all my healthy snacks. I was out and about a lot and ate what I fancied without going over the board. Guess what? I had the best results in that last round. The first two i was on a very strict health diet, acupuncture, anything you can imagine. I think being relaxed and happy has a much bigger effect. People eating junk food every day still fall pregnant , i know it’s not fair but you do what you can and don’t beat yourself up. xxx

Thank you that makes me feel a lot better! I feel like there’s a lot of pressure on us to get our bodies into the best possible state to the point where it’s just too much and unrealistic! Xx

I hear ya! I have gone down many a rabbit hole regarding food. I've finally landed on an 80/20 split of healthy and not so healthy. No point in beating yourself up over a few treats. As long as youre mostly getting good nutritients into your body, you're doing great!

Take care lovely xx

Thank you! It’s so hard especially when lots of posts online say so much about what you should and shouldn’t eat and most of it just contradicts itself so you don’t know what to listen to! Xx

I completely agree with Joey. It’s too stressful trying to eat well 100% of the time! And having treats is one of my fav things in the world so I’m not willing to sacrifice it. But I do try and be good the rest of the time. I hope you enjoyed every bite of your Maccie D’s!

I have changed my diet to mostly fresh food and food I wouldn’t usually eat to try and be healthier but it’s so hard to do it 100% of the time especially when I don’t even like half of the food I’m eating! I really enjoyed my McDonald’s thank you! It feels like forever since I had one ❤️

I’ve had 3 Ivf rounds all fails, I followed all the protocol of no coffee, cutting down on chocolate and eating healthy. Doctor told me there wasn’t much chance of it working and my eggs were poor! I went on holiday last year and came back pregnant, we were eating out mostly, although that week I did eat a lot of avocados (probably only the healthy thing) so sometimes I think a bit of what you want is good for you 😋

Aw congratulations!! Thank you, I feel a lot better! I’m going to try and not put too much pressure on myself to eat ‘perfect’ all the time xx

I understand you. I normally eat healthy but with IVF this is becoming a bit of a nightmare to try to be balanced and diverse all the time. So as others mentioned early, I don't think that allowing yourself something like Mc Donalds will be so bad. If it helps you relax a little, then why no? Remember the 80/20 rule!

Yes I feel like this at the moment - but I went to a fertility nutritionist and she said you have to allow your self treats, for a date night for example. It must help with mood especially when going through IVF it is hard enough. I was eating really healthily in my cycle, but def had the odd treat! Everyone is different I suppose.....
