Can I eat mackerel trying to conceive

I’m quite a regular fish eater since I cut out red meat and I don’t eat much chicken so today I went out and got some mackerel thinking I’ll be ok it comes from the U.K. and Scotland part of the Atlantic Ocean I’m guessing.I keep googling if I’m allowed it when ttc and can’t seem to find the right answer does anyone know .the nhs website says to only eat this type twice a week as it’s oily fish I think but I’m not certain if I can eat this type does anyone know.i don’t know the difference between king mackerel and mackerel lol 😂 sorry to be blonde

Yes you can, fish is great for you but you should only have two portions of oily fish per week x

I swear by Zita West’s Mackerel Pate! We have it every week and my husband is obsessed with it! Her book has loads of vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian recipes in it, and I would really recommend it! Only downside is there are no pictures so you never know if yours comes out looking like it should 😅

P.s We make it using peppered mackerel from Tesco 😋

I’ve been eating lots of mackerel over the last 6mths, as well as salmon and haddock for natural vitamins, and I’ve just had my BFP after 18Mths of trying. Good luck!

Congratulations.⭐️⭐️I no longer eat red meat and only eat organic eggs and chicken but want to start eating more haddock instead of too much oily fish.it is good for you but I was worried about the mercury content it seems twice a week is enough so I will do that and eat plenty of fruit and veg x

Sorry for my very late response! 🙈 yes haddock is ok - I asked my doctor and they said your guidance re mercury is how big the fish would be ie tuna will have more mercury than salmon or haddock. And fruit and veg is great too 😊

I think mackerel is great. Full of flavour and relatively cheap. My husband loves it in stew with rice. Limit to two portions a week as you and others have said and you should be fine. I also love the mackerel recipe in Zita West’s “Eat yourself pregnant” book which you can get on Amazon. I’ve made a good number of recipes in there including the breakfast bars which are amazing! Good luck! 🙂🙏🏽
