AMH Dropped 4.4 to 2.6 in just over a yesr

Has anyone else had this? We start our third cycle next month. Everything had changed including the clinic but we’ve just had our meeting and they told me my new AMH. I don’t know how I feel about it. Everything about this round feels weird, like I haven't had time to think about it and haven’t over thought things etc. Maybe it’s because it’s our 3rd one so we know already? I know the odds are stacked against us but I needed to give it another go (or 2) before we call it a day, and we’re fortunate enough to do it so we must. Has this happened to anyone else? Also does this mean that early menopause will be well and truly on its way? Thanks darlings x

Hi Judith,

My AMH dropped from 2.3 last year to 0.7 this year. I was devastated, and only had one follicle developing in Jan so that cycle was converted to an IUI, but i've just had my second round and got exactly the same no. of eggs (4) as the first round. They did say they were going to try a gentler round of stims to try and get that one good egg but i somehow ended up on 450 of Menopur so feeling the after effects a bit at the moment, but really thankful to have got those. I won't know till tomorrow how many make it to blastocyst but hopefully that gives you some comfort re. the AMH drop.

All the best x

Based on what searched, Its not likely to have this major drop just in one year unless there was changes in diet or medications:

Last winter, I had my AMH drop about 1 point in just 5 month which was very weird but then I did lots of research and I guess it is due to taking some supplements like Berberine, Milk thistle which I took to loose weight and controling my insulin resistance and I didnt know will decrease egg count so for my Feb cycle I got only 2 eggs after a very high stim ivf although I believe they should be good quality bcuz of same insulin resistance control( it helps increasing egg quality bcuz I have estrogen dominance) we will know when we attempt fertilizing the eggs as they’ve been frozen for now.

Another thing I read about potential masking AMH was taking vitamin B which may cause this.

Also if you have been on any GNRH hormones during the year before like lupron or decapeptal can compromise egg number and quality. I had this back in 2018 and resulted in a very poor cycle with 0 blastocyst.

These are based on my own experience hope it helped. But I hope you get good results regardless.

Thank you! The only thing the clinic suggested was that it’s a different hospital that took the test, different time of month etc and age. Nothing in medications have changed but I will look into this a bit more- thank you 💖💖
