I recently found out our 3rd ivf attempt was successful and am currently 6 weeks 4 days but I had a bleed at the weekend - I was petrified and spent the whole weekend worrying, the clinic booked me in for an early scan yesterday and we saw a heartbeat which was amazing but woke up this morning to more bleeding which hasn’t settled yet. Spoke to the midwife team who’ve said it’s still early and I need to wait it out. Has anyone else experienced this and had everything be ok? Trying to not to get upset and stressed but it’s impossible 😢 we’ve longed for this baby and I’m so worried, I just want everything to be ok.

Bleeding at 6 weeks - has anyone experienced this and everything been ok?
I have, i had bleeding at 6, 10 and 14 weeks only after this stage they realised i had a poloyp on my cervix! Apparently with pregnancy brings on extra blood flow which causes the bleed. The dr said its ok and wont harm the baby and to get it removed after i deliver. Currently 16 weeks glad i have a reason why but still makes me worried, as apparently this will happen throughout the pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you x
was the scan they did internal? This can cause irritation and therefore bleeding. Phone the clinic again for reassurance. Usually they really are not worried unless you fill a sanitary towel in under an hour but they can give you reassurance just the same. Big hugs to you xxx
Yes it was, the first nurse I spoke to said the scan wouldn’t have caused it but another said it could’ve this morning. Things settled down yesterday evening so feeling much better now. Thank you for your kind words xxx
I’m 6 weeks and 2 days and have been having on and off spotting mostly brown and with 2 episodes of red since Friday. I’m booking on for a scan this morning and am petrified. I know it can go either way.
You have seen a heart beat and that is such a positive outcome. I’m wishing you all the luck xx
Thank you so much for your message and I’m sorry you are going through this too, it’s so stressful and just praying everything is ok for both of us. I hope your scan went well today, thinking of you xxx
Thanks. I had my scan and saw a tiny heart beat 💓 but obviously it’s still very early days. I have my next scan in 9 days which is my official viability scan so just hoping for progress. My bleeding has been up and down and seems to have settled now but wouldn’t be surprised if it starts again. But it’s common and guess we are just bleeders! Xx
Oh that’s amazing, so pleased you saw a lovely heart beat! 💕Glad to hear your bleeding has settled now and hope that all is well at your next scan 🤞 Its weird that no one talks about bleeding but it seems more common than I thought. I’m here if you ever want to chat, good luck lovely will be thinking of you xxx
So sorry you’re experiencing this. I know how worrying it is. I had unexplained bleeds from around implantation onwards for a few weeks, some being much heavier & more sudden than my normal period. It eased the further along I went but I do hear for some it can continue throughout. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant.
I also have a friend who had horrific bleeds due to a haematoma, which then suddenly disappeared by the time she was 20 weeks. Don’t lose hope yet. Best of luck xx
Thank you for your kind words, it’s been really helpful to hear the experiences of others, no one tells you this could be a possibility so it’s a shock and so worrying. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you are feeling well. How did you cope with multiple bleeds? It’s only been a few days and my anxiety going to the loo is through the roof 🙈 feeling reassured everything has settled down now but preparing myself it could happen again xxx
It’s no worries. I know how comforting it was to hear from other women that had been in a similar situation to me when I was going through it too, so I’m glad to be able to reassure someone else going through it as best as I can.
I was very anxious going to the loo all the time as well - it’s so hard not to obsess over it. One saving grace for me at the time was I was so busy with my job, I had a lot of distractions with the long hours & it was a godsend. So all I can advise is to find lots of distractions & try not to let it rule your life as best as you can. I found I’d take each day as it comes & not think too much about what could be ahead (good or bad).
The bleeds will probably settle for you.... I think they’re pretty common around the stage you’re at & they usually get less the further along you go so hold on to that hope 🙏🏻. Take care & sending lots of positive baby vibes to you Xx🤗
Thank you so much, it’s definitely been reassuring so thank you for taking the time to respond. Thank you for the tips too - I think taking each day as it comes and keeping busy sound like a good plan. I’m hoping that things settle and then I can relax a little. Wishing you at the best with your pregnancy 😊💕xxx
I wish you all the best at the scan. I had terrible bleeding 5 and a half weeks till 20 weeks, had heavy bleeding, clots and horrible period pain. he just turned 2 earlier on this month from that pregnancy. It's a worrying time, they will monitor your bloods and keep a close eye on how things are progressing. Hope little one is tucked away safe and happy. Big hugs to you.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and lovely to hear your little one is doing well and all was ok. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond hearing from others has made me feel so much better and more hopeful xxx
Have u done another pregnancy test?
It’s so difficult to know which way things are going and really hope it’s nothing to worry about. You have seen the heart beat and that’s a massive reassurance. Hope ur bean sticks!
All those who have positive stories despite bleeding- were your pregnancy tests positive throughout?
Pregnancy tests are likely to stay showing a positive result even if miscarrying as the HCG will still be in your blood.
Unfortunately therefore doing a pregnancy test won’t tell you if you’re miscarrying or not. You need a scan to confirm either way.
Yes at .6 weeks 2 day’s I had a spontaneous hemorrhage. They usually dissolve on there own and you bleed the rest out. At 8 weeks mine had desolved I’m 12 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins. 🙏🏼 For your 🌈👶 to be ok ❤️
Hey.
I had extremely heavy bleeding at just under 6 weeks (large clots and all) with our second transfer and was utterly convinced I was miscarrying but I had a scan a couple of days later and all was well. They saw no reason for the bleed and said it’s really common.
We did miscarry later but it wasn’t due to the bleed (the embryo had over divided and split in two).
So yes. Even heavy bleeding doesn’t mean bad news. I know it’s terrifying but it certainly doesn’t mean it’s all over.
Very best of luck. Xxx
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and for your kind words. Everyone has been so lovely, and I appreciate everyone taking the time to reply, it’s made such a difference. I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, so tough especially after going through all this. I hope you are doing ok and that things work out for you xxx
You’re welcome lovely. It’s so scary when it happens it’s so good to get reassurance from others that have gone through it too.
So pleased to hear it’s settled down now - that’s brilliant news! Very best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy xxx
I am so glad things have settled fingers crossed and try your best to relax. Sending you lots of positive vibes and baby dust xxx
