I am due to embark on my 2nd egg retrieval this month and I also have one 3BB frozen from my last cycle
I only have two months left in my country before emigrating to the uk so my doctor wants to do a double embryo transfer to increase the odds of success
My worry is that she wants to do it as a fresh transfer after my retrieval
In my last cycle I ended up in hospital with open abdominal surgery a day after transfer and we not sure if it was OHSS or surgical injury during transfer
Either way I’m scared that a double transfer will increase my odds of OHSS and probably loosing healthy embryos again
My question please is whether anyone has undergone a fresh double transfer or if it’s better for me to wait for my next cycle and then transfer (this is best case scenario if I get good embryos this cycle)
Thanks guys

Most definately don’t let them do a fresh, if necessary fake the flu and come back for a FET. There is increasing evidence that Frozen thaw embryo transfers are much more successful in women over fresh transfers where OHSS is a real possibility as the uterine lining is less receptive due to much heightened hormones affecting the stability of the lining and often ends up a failed implantation. Let your hormones settle down and go on the next or second month after egg collection. Both my children were frozen embryo transfers my clinic refused a fresh as I had signs of leaking around the ovaries at collection .., an rly warning sign of potential OHSS looming. They didn’t want to take the chance. It’s hard to wait I know but it would be horrible to have it failed and you always wonder whether it’s because it was a fresh transfer. Embryos are far too precious my love!! Xx good luck
I feel more confident now to request a frozen transfer. It’s so difficult because the ivf road is so long already and delaying transfer seems like an eternity but in the long run it’s the safest option. In my last retrieval I experienced excruciating cramps a day after a fresh 3AA transfer and had a laparotomy to remove the pus in my abdomen and I spent 10 days with a nasogastric tube in hospital so it’s best not to risk it again. The doctors couldn’t confirm to me whether I had OHSS or if the doctor had injured me . I guess for legal protection
Hi I’ve never had OHSS so can’t even imagine what it’s like, but I had a double FET 3BC & 4CC, I’m now 14 weeks pregnant with twins. Stats do show that a FET is more successful compared to a fresh a cycle. Of course fresh cycles work but the stats speak for themselves. Don’t put yourself under pressure. With a FET you can be a little more in control and get your body ready for the big day. Good luck with whatever you choose! x
That gives me so much hope that embryos that are not considered ‘perfect’ can still lead to healthy implantation. My doctor gave me a 10% chance of implantation with my last frozen 3BB. Period arrived today so I’m so excited to start my treatment. Hoping it’s a good one
