Light brown mucus discharge at 7 weeks

Hi everyone

This is my 2nd IVF pregnancy and so far everything has been great. I am currently 7 weeks and we got to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. But now I have noticed a little light brownish discharge- almost jelly-like when I wipe (sometimes). Has anyone else experienced this?

I am so grateful as we have never got to the heartbeat stage but also really anxious at the same time 😩

I’ve had some of this and it is really worrying. Things are still going ok for me so far. I did have a SCH at 6 weeks but it resolved by 7 weeks. They say anything brown is generally ok. I try to make myself feel better by saying if it was a miscarriage, I’d know about it - having had one before, there really is no mistaking one. The other thing I tend to think is that there’s genuinely nothing else I could do anything more for this pregnancy right now. Take it easy, slow down and let it play through, I’m sure you’ll be fine xxx

Have you contacted your clinic? Are you on progesterone support? I had brown bleeding and spotting when I tapered d off progesterone around 10-12 weeks and it really worried me. It stopped as soon as I went back on progesterone. Midwives weren't concerned as they said it's very common in early pregnancy and the first trimester due to loads of different factors, and they said only to call back if it went bright red and increased in amount. I still got it checked out though as it continued - I still have it now at the end of my third trimester! But I wanted the peace of mind so I ended up having a biopsy to make sure - it was all fine although they don't know exactly what's causing it. If you're worried and it carries on, try and speak to your clinic or EPU and maybe see about progesterone in case that helps.
