I’m 6+4 today and have woken up to some very thin, almost transparent light brown discharge. Im a tad concerned that this is a sign of impending miscarriage. I had bleeding at 14 weeks with my last pregnancy, only on one occasion but was bright red but everything was fine and there was no known cause for the blood.
I’ve been having mild dull belly ache like period pains (but soooo much milder) pretty much since I found out I was pregnant.
I have an early scan and my first midwife appt on Wednesday so not sure if it would be worth my time going to the hospital? It is very mild and I know there’s not really anything that can be done on a Sunday.
Thanks in advance 😊
UPDATE - I went for my scan and they couldn’t see anything other than a ‘mass’ dating 5 weeks. I bled for a couple of weeks and it was a confirmed miscarriage around 8 weeks.

I had this several times in my first trimester. I know it’s really worrying but it can also be completely normal. I called my clinic each time and they really weren’t interested unless it became bright red and heavier.
I really hope everything’s fine and I’m sure it is, but completely understand the anxiety it causes! xx
That’s what I thought. As it’s so mild I can’t imagine them doing anything anyway. I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse but I have an early scan and my first midwife appt on Wednesday so at least there’s not too long to wait (although it will still be soooo hard 😩😩😩)
My little boy was ICSI so I was on cyclogest however this one is natural (another reason why I’m feeling so anxious as we were told it wouldn’t happen!) so I’m not on anything this time. I’m going to keep an eye on it but as it’s so mild at the moment, I can’t see them doing anything and will probably make me wait til Wednesday anyway xx
When I (freaked out and broke down crying) asked the nurse she pretty much said pregnancy can get in all your nooks and crannies so not to fret, I was on cyclogest until gone 12 weeks in the end (as I was too scared to stop) but the browny stuff stopped at 8ish so I think my body was just doing its thing ❤️ all the best for this pregnancy for you xxxx
Thank you! I’m over thinking everything I think as I have a full belly ache but I’ve had that since I found out and I had it with my last pregnancy so that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Either way, what will be will be, I can’t change it so I’m just going to try not think about it until Wednesday.
Thank you for your input ♥️♥️ xxx
Hey there.
I've had this on and off this whole pregnancy. Dark brown, sometimes almost black. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy. I've had countless reassurance scans. Pretty much lived at EPAC who told me to come in anytime. I've had multiple losses so anxiety is high. I'm nearly 17 weeks now and scan last week after more of this was great.
Apparently some of us just have this. For me I noticed it increased after sex so that's been halted. They also said because I've had treatement for pre cancerous cells before in my cervix I might just be more prone to it.
I'd call the hospital or your local early pregnancy. That's what they are there for. It's positive that it is brown. They told me only to start to worry if very bright red. Take care. I know it's so hard to relax so I won't say relax!
Thank you so much! That’s very reassuring! I also had laser for pre cancerous cells years ago however didn’t have this issue on my first pregnancy but you never know!
It’s stayed the same all day so will call them tomorrow, I’m almost 7 weeks so will the Epu even see me? I best check.
To be honest I would like to just try and wait till my scan on Wednesday (if I can relax enough to). I’m just so anxious as we were trying for years, had 2 rounds of ICSI and we’ve some how fallen in naturally so it all seems too good to be true!
Hi I had that too. Thank god every thing was ok. They couldn't find a reason but said sometime the cervix gets irratated. They asked me to come in for a scan I was 7 weeks. I think call them as it will put your mind at ease. All the best x
Good luck, please let me know how you get on. With the pains they said it was because everything was stretching. Hopefully it will be the same for you.
Just an update...unfortunately it looks like I’m miscarrying 😢 they couldn’t see anything on the scan so had to do an internal which showed a ‘potential 5 week pregnancy’ however I’m almost 7. Also the bleeding is now heavy and bright red. I’m going back in 10 days for a rescan.
I knew it was too good to be true but a part of me thought this might actually happen for us.
Thanks to everyone who has commented and good luck on your journeys ♥️♥️
Thank you ♥️I think we’re all going through things we shouldn’t have to be, life can be so unfair! This is just another one of those things to deal with, hopefully it will get easier xxx
