New ivf protocol

Hi fertility friends

Instead of doing an FET with my last 3BB embryo my doctor has suggested another retrieval due to rapidly declining AMH levels

Instead of the usual gonal f, cetrotide, and ovitrelle she’s using puregon for stimulation and pregnyl for trigger

Has anyone used this combination and how was the response?

Last cycle I had 9 retrieved, 6 mature and 3 fertilised and two failed transfers

So she’s hoping for more mature eggs this time

I did puregon and menopur for stims. Orgalutran to suppress ovulation and then Lupron + Pregnyl for trigger. It was a lot lol 31 shots in total. I ended up getting a really great ovarian response (18 eggs retrieved) and ended up with four blasts. Haven’t done FET yet so I’m not sure how successful it was but at least we had some to freeze.

Good luck to you!!

I'm not sure why she wouldn't transfer a 3bb thats a good quality egg. We are 10 weeks with a fet 3bb xx

I imagine it's nothing to do with the quality of the frozen embryo, .more that it's frozen and safe to be used anytime. If there's a risk with dropping AMH then it may be best to do another fresh round and see if there's more to freeze so then there are more FET round options and more chance of success.

Often older women with lower AMH do cycle banking for this reason.

Hi there. This is the reply they gave me

We are of the opinion that your remaining embryo (3BB) is of fair quality and could be successful. It can be transferred in both natural or medicated cycle. The medicated cycle gives more control, but you will need progesterone injections. The natural cycle is easier but can sometimes be slightly unpredictable. The success rate is the same for natural vs medicated. But it is certainly worth it.

Your embryo quality was indeed not optimal. Most women in your age group have more and better embryos than you. But I cannot say that you have “bad eggs” and that you will always have bad eggs. We can only say that your embryo quality was slightly below average for a women of your age group. Sometimes if we do a new IVF cycle we see better embryos. Often we change the stimulation protocol to try to have a better outcome. A new fresh IVF cycle is certainly still possible from a medical point of view.

I understand that you have been through a lot. I wish that I could give you more guarantees of succes. The frozen embryo is “fair”. I estimate the chance of success to be about 20%. A fresh IVF should give you a much higher chance.

Thats shocking hun clinic said my embryo was of really good quality and they was happy with the result. I'm not sure if your clinic grades different to mine but I was told that a 3bb was a good embryo. So don't be disappointed xx

Thank you for the encouragement. I just feel like if I’m spending so much money for a transfer I may as well just do a full cycle and increase my odds ❤️❤️
