IVF round 2 - failed

Greenleaves1 profile image
14 Replies

I've tested this morning 10DP5DT & my test is stark white negative. I'm numb, disappointed, sad... I don't know what I could have done differently. My lining was good, the blast was rated good - I was really hopeful & now it's over.

First round (Meriofert) was 3 mature eggs retrieved, 2 fertilised, 1 early blast - failed.

Second round (Pergoveris) was 4 mature eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised, 1 4BB blast.

My AMH was 5pmol last July, I have had it retested but awaiting the result.

I don't believe they'll change anything for my next round other than 3 months of DHEA.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or success stories please?

So sorry to hear this. There’s so many different things to try it’s hard to know what to put time, money and effort into as you don’t know what could make the difference. I did a combination of meriofert and gonal f with a double trigger for my last round which seemed to give better results. Also did a microbiome test, took probiotics and antibiotics as well as clexane. I have lower amh than you but I’ve heard it just means it may take more attempts rather than it’s not possible. My experience is that dhea does make a difference. I went from 2 eggs to 11 after longer taking dhea between collections 3 and 4. A bfn is so disheartening, you might need some time to regroup before you decide what next steps are right for you

Yeah I hope DHEA helps me - I've had my testosterone tested and it's low so I'll get it retested monthly.

I'm going to be taking a break until November to regroup and pay off the IVF bills I've racked up so far.

Thanks for taking the time to respond x

Pls can I ask where you did your microbiome test, and what probiotics and antibiotics you took?I'll Google clexane.

I've got three frosties awaiting genetic feedback so am now focused on getting my body baby friendly x

I used invivo and fertilisis for the microbiome testing. I took bio me femme probiotic. The antibiotics and clexane were prescribed by the ivf doctor. Good luck with your Frosties!

I’m so so sorry lovely 😢 all I can say is there is defo still hope! They never tell you this at the clinics but for a lot of women it can take a lot more than 2 transfers to find that perfect embryo so this one not working does not mean the next one or the one after that won’t be the one ☝️ getting more than one embryo per egg collection would be useful though so you don’t have to put your self through that each time (or cost!) so I’m hoping the DHEA will help with that. Thinking of you and be kind to your self you’ve been through a lot! Xx 💜

I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Just wanted to say I took 75ug per day, bought DHEA from Biovea which I think is US based? It's proper lab grade DHEA.I had to buy a bottle of 50 dosage, which I took in the morning, and a bottle of 25, which I took before bed with a Melatonin also bought from Biovea.

I was worried about taking such a high dose but my clinic said to go ahead no worries.

Other supplements I'm taking are:

Shatavari

Combination 12 tissue salts

Evening primrose oil

Wild nutrition - fertility support

I've just bought some motherwort herb which helps with all sorts, I've only just learned about it.

Magnesium

I'm switching from coq10 to ubiquinol 200mg which I'm getting off amazon

I'm 43 and AMH 0.31

Im a holistic practitioner so give myself shiatsu. You could try acupuncture?

At my first EC they took 5 mature eggs of 6 that had grown

4 fertilised

3 were strong enough to biopsy and are now frozen

I'm confident that the supplements and holistic ways I'm managing my health have enabled this outcome at my age. I'm now waiting for the genetic testing. My doctor is so laid back that it gives my anxiety (!) but perhaps I need to focus on being more optimistic.

Good luck x

It took me 7 transfers to get my BFP. Sorry to sound so negative but I did get there in the end with my clinic saying it’s a numbers game. They added prednisolone and clexane for my later transfers and my successful one was modified natural.

Advice I was given was warm feet warm uterus, uterus is the last place to receive water and keep moving. So I made a big effort last transfer to keep socks on (I hate warm feet!), drank at least 3 litres of water a day, and every couple of hours made sure I was active for 10/15 mins just either walking or tidying up. Can’t say if it helped!

I also read a book called The Secret. It’s really short and about how what you put out into the universe is reflected back your way. So positive thoughts attract positive energy. And tbh I was fake it till you make it!

I know the feeling of being told all is looking perfect and there’s no reason just keep going. I’m sending you positive vibes and baby dust. X

it’s so devastating to see the negative 😕 I’m so sorry

It’s like jumping over hurdles for nothing.

I’ve been doing ivf since I was 40 (now 44)

I was so hopeful in the beginning but just kept getting negative after negative.

I’ve tried so many different protocols and have cancelled cycles, ones where I got 14 eggs and only 2 fertilised, ones where I had nothing to transfer but I just couldn’t see my future without a child so I kept going and am now 6 weeks with my very last embryo of OE.

I prob would have moved to DE if this didn’t work but hopefully this one sticks around.

I did use specialised probitics this one round but who knows if that made a difference?

I hope you get your positive in your next cycle 💕
