Sorry you are feeling awful. Have you spoken to your clinic? it might be worth getting them to scan you. You say 'only' 7 eggs but that's a good number and you can still get OHSS if your oestrogen levels are too high. In the meantime I would drink plenty of water and if you are struggling with your number 2s I would take something like lactulose which is safe as a laxative.
Sending you hugs, its so horrible but it will pass x
Thank you! I’ve left them a message earlier. It’s just so painful and I’ve never felt so swollen. It’s not even the lower down bits that hurt it’s higher stomach by ribs etc! Xx
I had this after egg collection 1, also low amh and only got 2 eggs, although I’d had 11 follicles at last scan so think we lost some, but looking back I think it was mild ohss and felt exactly as you’re describing, I had to wind the car seat right back as I was bulging at the top of my stomach! It was so awful but it did subside, it’s probably best to tell your clinic xx
Hi lovely, sounds like OHSS to me. I had this after an egg collection of 6 eggs - it doesn't really matter what number you get.
I felt very swollen and like I had painful trapped wind. I drank lots of water and tried to walk a little bit to ease it out.... it took about 3 - 4 days to go down.
Definitely sounds like OHSS - I had it after my last egg collection and it’s horrible. Drink a lot - and I mean a LOT, like 3-4 litres a day - but not just water, try and mix in also full fat milk and drinks high in electrolytes (like coconut water or sports mineral supplements in your water) . Try and eat protein (chicken, eggs, Greek yoghurt / Skyr). And rest as much as you can. Also agree on the lactulose if things aren’t moving. I felt better after a couple of days , hope you do too x
Hi Catlady. You poor thing. I’m off this week but saw your post. You must drink at least 3L water a day and don’t get constipated. Paracetamol for pain unless you have been prescribed anything else. Remember codeine can constipate, No anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Have a rest but walk around too. Keep an eye on urine output. If it goes down or gets very dark see doctor. Also if you get breathless. Hopefully it will settle. Diane
Hi hun, sorry you are feeling so bad! Sounds like me when I had OHSS, super huge hard stomach and painful! Hopefully you will feel better, but don't be afraid to go to your clinic or hospital if you feel worse. Your clinic should be able to a stomach ultrasound to see what's going on and they can prescribe you medication to help also xx
Had to respond to this as I could totally resonate. I had my egg collection in mid February and had really similar symptoms. Post egg collection I was even more swollen and bloated that I had been due to stims, I continued to find it extremely painful in my abdomen every time I tried to empty my bladder, I also found it impossible to empty my bowels for at least 3 days, when I eventually could, it was incredibly painful. I was told this was normal and just how my body was reacting to what was happening. It did get better and by the time our 5dt came around, I felt almost back to normal. I did take a senna tablet, but didn't find it helped much. I didn't have OHSS or anything.
Fingers crossed you feel more yourself soon, what a gruelling process all this is! Good luck!
I’m sorry for the late reply. I agree with the ladies above. OHSS is what it sounds like so keep an eye on your symptoms, drink a lot of water, low carbs to help decrease the bloating and get in touch with your clinic. I didn’t have this issue with more follicles and think it is valid for you to get some clarity asap. Progesterone will definitely add to the bloating too. I’m so sorry 😣
Also, if it is due to constipation, I recommend an enema. I did have terrible constipation and waited and waited but the enema was the only think that worked to relieve me.
