Had EC this morning, went well but they did say I'm at a high risk of Ohss.
I'm home in bed and I'm a lot of pain, however the worst pain is high up in my abdomen.,like just under the centre of my ribs where my diaphragm would be. I have to walk bent over.
Been feeling nauseous, tried being sick but not much coming up and generally miserable.
But I'm just wondering how much of this is normal the day of EC? Like maybe it's just the after effects of the sedation etc and not the beginnings of Ohss.

Thank you yeah been getting plenty of fluids. No no meds just gave me warning signs to look for and said to ring them if any issues. I'll see how I feel as time goes on xo
I have my egg collection tomorrow so checked through the info I'd say the same as Hollibob. Keep well hydrated and if the pain does not ease with paracetamol then call your clinic even the out of hours contact if need be, if nothing else it will put your mind at ease x
It is normal. I felt the same way. It is so important to bed rest during this time. Everyone's body is different. I know a friend who had to bed rest for a week. Therefore, it also depends on the number of eggs that were retrieved. Good luck to you. I hope things go well.
I'm pretty sore today as well, but I was also sore for my last one so I think it's pretty common. I'm finding a hot water bottle is helping 😊 if you find it gets any worse then I would phone the hospital, for peace of mind if nothing else.
Drink at least a glass of water every hour. I had really bad pain and nausea after my collection. 12 hours of drinking like a fish and I felt much more human. It’s all about flushing everything out of your system.
Thank you that's what I did yesterday and I've definitely improved today x
Could be just just post-Ec or could be OHSS. They told me to drink 2-3 litres of water a day and rest. Keep mo ironing yourself carefully and call clinic if you’re worried. Hope you feel better soon x
Thank you I'm definitely feeling better today than yesterday so hopefully things keep improving xi
Glad to hear that. It can kick in a few days after EC (day 3-5). I had EC on wed and it was at its worst on fri-sat. Keeping drinking plenty and resting. It’s a huge thing for your body the whole stims and EC. X
I can't find it myself now.. Well basically my consultant told me that he's happy to go ahead with the polyp removal as soon as his diary allows. And then said we'd wait one bleed before starting the FET xo
Okay, thanks. that’s helpful to know. Could be the OHSS slowing mine down then although I’m waiting to hear from private hospital what they say about timeframes. I’ll let you know! X
Give it another day just in case it’s immediate reaction to EC but it does sound like OHSS. I’ve just recently had it and it really hurt to breathe in/laugh etc in the diaphragm. I could hardly walk at the start but I was only mild and have just been monitored as an outpatient. Make sure you get in to have blood tests etc if it gets any worse. Hope you feel better soon xxx
Thank you I definitely am feeling better than yesterday but only well enough to move to the sofa rather than my bed lol.. But hoping things settle.. Thanks will contact the clinic if things don't continue to improve xo
I went out for an Indian with my family in the evening after my last egg collection! But I did feel ropey for an hour or two after EC but then I was fine. I had what you’re experiencing after my first egg collection though and was in a lot of pain and looked so heavily pregnant but after a horrible painful night I was ok by the next day. Like everyone has said, drink water and phone the clinic if it’s not getting better x
Thank you.. Oh goodness there's no way I could have went out last night I was doubled over even walking to the toilet! Definitely slowly improving today.. Still not quite up to going out for an Indian yet lol xo
Was all super quick, felt a little nauseous now and again but soon passed. I was the same as you though doubled up with pain when trying to walk, kept thinking about how you said you felt better the next day and just hoped I would be the same.
Aw brilliant I'm so glad, it's horrible at the time isn't it!! I'm better again today.. Still feel pains but nothing bad, going to actually get showered and leave the house today lol So hoping you're back to normal soon xo
Hope your feeling better today. I felt the same after my collection, on a visit to the emergency EPU and a scan they diagnosed mild OHSS... it was fluid in my chest cavity causing the discomfort. Worth a call to the nurse aamiller405 x
Did they do anything for your ohss? I'm starting to think I have a mild case but if they don't do anything I'm wondering if there's much point getting seen xo
No just bloods and scans yo keep an eye over 2 days but I was told to keep a very close eye on my symptoms. If you got 20 or more eggs you as re at a higher risk. Just call the nurses let them decide xx
