IUI process using donor sperm

Can anyone who has been through this give me any advice in timescales.

I was referred in March and had 1st appointment in July.. which led to tests.. and after an AMH of 11.9 at age of 38yrs and no other known issues the Dr rang in September saying he is ready to start IUI as soon as I find a donor and had my counselling session.

Counselling session done in October.

Due to covid 19 the donor pool is a lot lower than normal and made more difficult I need one who is CMV negative.

I’ve found a donor that will be in stock between Christmas and new year.. hopefully I manage to purchase from this donor and get it delivered in January…

When would my treatment start?

Does the clinic monitor periods for a few months first?

Are all IUI rounds medicated? Costs?

How many attempts did it take if you did IUI with donor sperm?

Sorry for all the questions.. the clinic won’t discuss anything until I’ve got my donor sperm and feel like time is ticking away and as I get older my chances will get lower.

I’ve read the it starts with an egg book and..

I’m taking vitamins (Co-enzyme/folic acid/vit d).

I’ve cut out caffeine and limited alcohol. I’ve also started to cut phthalates from beauty products (very hard to do).

Thanks for reading!

I'm afraid I haven't done an IUI but am hoping someone can advise you 🤞I don't THINK they need to monitor your cycles though, and would imagine the once the donor sperm is ready they'd start you early in the New year? Hoping so! Xx

You can have iui both medicated andUnmedicated. Medicated they give you 2 injections once a day for 7-10 days so they can time it better. You’ll have a scan to see how your lining and follicles are responding then you will have a trigger injection 36 hours before they inseminate you.

My partner and I had unexplained infertility, we were extremely lucky in that we caught on the second round of IUI. I’m now 16 weeks and nursing the joys of hg (severe morning sickness that Kate Middleton had).

My friend also had IUI as her partner had no sperm she caught the second time too.

Good luck

Thank you for replying and explaining. So happy it’s worked for you and hoping the sickness subsided for you! I’ve got my donor sperm now so hoping the clinic starts the process soon!
