Birmingham womens hospital progesterone check

Does anyone know if they will check progesterone levels before transfer? I asked for my last transfer and for my upcoming and was told no. But I'm paying for treatment so I desperately want my levels checked. Also do they offer injections for progesterone rather than just cyclogest? Reflecting on my last fet I had my embryo transferred 110 hours after starting the cyclogest pessaries. I dont think this is enough to support my day 5 embryo?!

Hi SUMMERTIME. I would mention your last FET and see what they feel you should be having this time round. Good luck! Diane

I have had 2 fresh transfers & they didn’t check my progesterone levels on either. On both previous failed rounds I started bleeding the day before test date which I don’t believe should happen if your levels are high enough. So this time I have pushed for lubion injections daily on top of the 2 cyclogest pessaries. If you are paying then tell them you want to have the injections as extra support for piece of mind x

thank you for sharing! its definitely helpful to know, as I've been struggling to connect with others for the same hospital and what they will offer. Wish you all the best for your current/next round x

Levels were not tested. As the natural cycle tends to produce progesterone initially from the ovaries and follicles are removed, supplementation with progesterone is necessary for IVF. Take the advice of the fertility Dr they know more than you

Thank you for your reply. It's going to be a medicated cycle, not natural. I agree the drs know more but in my experience theres been some contradiction in information and a lot of that information has been brief and one size fits all approach. I wish I had full faith in them for me not to ask so many questions on a forum. Ivf and lack of support and information doesn't go well for those of us with high level anxiety.

If they will remove follicles progesterone needed. If not then they may need to check levels as it may not be needed.

All the best.
