Progesterone For frozen transfer help need others experience!

Hey I'm bk again.. just spoke to the nurse about getting my progesterone checked before transfer..and she said they won't check my progesterone on the day of transfer because I will be pumped with progesterone allready so will give a false reading 🤷 and she said it's pointless a week after transfer.. because again it will give a false reading do I just go along with this.. I will be put on cyclogest and lubion this time.

Embryologist won't put two embryo's back because he said I'm under 40 and have 4 top grade embryo's and will put 2 in on third round if it's my 3rd transfer. I'm gutted 😭

Hi Eram,

I’ve never had a progesterone test before I moved clinics, I had one on the day of transfer this time and it came back low so I added lubion in (was only on cyclogest previously). If they are already giving you lubion and you’ve not had early bleeding on previous cycles then you’re pretty well covered so try not to worry.

If it’s really playing on your mind then you can always pay privately for a blood test xx

I was bleeding early on my first transfer when on cyclogest. So this time I'm on lubion and cyclogest. Xx

Did you have intralipids done? Xx

I did at my previous clinic. I had a mc on my first cycle so clinic recommended them to me for cycle 2 and 3 which both failed along with blood thinners.

I moved clinics and my new doctor nearly fell off her chair when I said they’d given me intralipids. She also tested me for clotting issues and I didn’t need those drugs either. I honestly think my previous clinic took advantage of my desperation after my mc with add ons when it was most likely just due to a bad embryo.

The two cycles where I didn’t fall pregnant were the ones I was on all those extras xx

Wow interesting..so what were you on this time again? Xx

I was on 3 x progynova, 2 x cyclogest and 1 x lubion for my FET. Stayed on all of those until 12 weeks.

I completely understand why you want to try everything and explore every option, I felt the same. If I could go back and tell myself one thing though it would be focus on the fact that it worked, you did fall pregnant and it just wasn’t the right egg xx

What is progynova? You are right to be fair I think I need to slow down and realise that to.

Which clinic are you with? Xx

It’s estrogen tablets (HRT). If you’re having a medicated FET you will likely be on them or a different brand, some clinics use patches instead but tablets is more common.

I’m with IVI London x

Looks like I'm going to be on the same protocol as you 🙂

Oh ok how much does fet cost there? Xx

I think it was £1600 plus drugs. The cyclogest and Progynova are cheap but the lubion isn’t!x

Hey Eram,

I started progynova and progesterone 5 days before transfer and on the day of transfer we tested my progesterone and I still tested too low, despite the plethora of progesterone support I was on. So they took this information and increased my progesterone.

My clinic is big on progesterone support, they say you can’t have ‘too much’ but ‘too little’ is a problem...and everyone metabolizes it’s differently.

If your clinic won’t test you, you can have it done really easily privately on the day if your transfer . Cost about £45 and if you’re in London I can tell you where to go. But you’ll wanna get your consultant onboard with prescribing you extra progesterone ...IF required.

I was taking progynova (estrogen) am & pm (dosage changed throughout cycle)

& cyclogest (pessary) am & pm, lubion (belly injection) am & pm and Lentogest (bum injection) pm every 3 days. All the last three are progesterone.

It doesn’t make sense what they’re saying about testing giving a false reading...you’re not testing the body’s natural progesterone (that would likely be too low as it’s not a natural pregnancy), you’re testing what the progesterone level is while taking progesterone, to check you’re taking enough!

I was initially scheduled to have 1 x cyclogest pessary a day am only (along with all other drugs listed above) but when I tested too low they increased this to 2 per day, am & pm.

I’m now 13.5 weeks pregnant with my first FET (after 5 collection rounds!)

Thank you, will deffintley tell them to test me then if they won't then for sure will go private or go to my gp. and congratulations! 🙂
