I’m totally new to this medication and long protocol as we’ve only been on short before. Had a nightmare few months with cycles with being cancelled due to thick lining / cycle abandoned due to under response. We were due to start IVF again this month but I had 3 big cysts at baseline scan (potentially left over from last month’s abandoned cycle). They’ve transferred me over to the long protocol and due to start Buserelin on CD21 of this same period cycle. Just wondering if there is any point TTC naturally during my upcoming ovulation period if I will be down regging? I’m assuming not from what I understand Buserelin does but thought I’d check!
Thanks in advance for your knowledge!x

Hi lovely, sorry to hear you've had a nightmare! Fingers crossed all goes well this time round. In theory Buserelin puts you in to a menopausal state so your body won't prepare the way it should. If they have you on Fyremadel too then you won't ovulate. xx
Thanks Millbanks, I really hope so! I’m not having Fyremadel alongside it from what I understand but I thought this was the case generally about Buserelin so won’t bother forcing anything and enjoy a month without the pressure!xx
Oh gosh yes - if you get a break from the pressure I would take it!! hehe!Good luck xx
I have always been told not to TTC on a month you are due to start buserelin as you start on day 21 so wouldn't know if you were pregnant or not, and if you were pregnant and then took it, it would have a dangerous impact on the pregnancy x
Thanks Hidden and KiboXX I thought this might be the case. We’ll just enjoy a month off without the pressure in that case! 🙂 What’s it like as a jab? Side effects etc? Not sure what to expect!xx
So nice to have a month off I found it one of the least painful injections of all of them so thats good! I did have a grotty headache after about a week, like a heavy head kind of hangover headache and was generally pretty grumpy! It wasn't my most favourite drug I have to admit.. but its fairly short lived and with plenty of water and some paracetamol was manageable! And worth it if you get your BFP!! I love your forum name by the way xx😀
Same as Daisy, I did get headaches so make sure you drink lots and lots of water. As an injection, they don’t hurt and are definitely one of the easier ones!
I did become a bit of raging bitch on buserlin though 🤪 My poor husband 😂xx
Thanks KiboXX and Hidden I haven’t been on for a while but am nearly 2 weeks into the meds now. I thought I’d been getting off quite lightly and was almost worried the buserelin was not working…but the last few days, ouch, the headaches! They are really not fun! 🤕 I warned my other half after your message Kibo but so far I’ve only had one emotional meltdown so fingers crossed! Still a way to go though so let’s see how the next week works out haha!xx
