Stopping Clexane

Hi ladies.

I am on clexane as fertility clinic said my blood is too thick.

I was meant to stop it after 12 weeks but fertility clinic said to take it throughout as o e lady who stopped ended up having no fetal heart beat at 15 weeks. I am 14 weeks tomorrow and have only 12 left.

Discussed with midwife and waiting to be seen by a consultant who will make the decision or change to different one. The clexane visit loads and I need to get paid private prescription each time.

If you were on blood thinner what was the reason and when did you stop?

Hi Jolinkomo. Obviously you need to be guided by your clinic, but now you are 14/40wks pregnant your consultant will give his/her recommendations. It seems as if you might need to have some sort of a blood thinning agent throughout your pregnancy, and hopefully it can be changed to a tablet form. You will most likely need to have regular blood checks to ensure the right dose of "whatever" is given. I have known several ladies in similar situations that have been OK. Diane

Thank you. It's so so hard getting hold of the midwives. Will call GP on Monday before I run out.

Hi, I was on clexane injections throughout pregnancy and for 6 weeks after birth (but randomly not for the first 13 weeks of pregnancy).

I’m assuming your midwife is referring you for consultant care, they’ll assess you to see if you need this and then prescribe it for the rest of pregnancy if needed. The good news is you’ll get an NHS prescription then though.

Hope you get sorted soon 🤞

I’m in clexane twice a day and will need to remain on it until I’m 34 weeks pregnant due to blood clotting issues. Follow the advice of your clinic, they know best. Sending you lots of luck xx

Hi, my consultant decided I should stay on the clexane until 6 weeks after giving birth (currently 17 weeks pregnant). They decided this because I have previously had two early miscarriages and I have MTHFR gene (heterozygote). All hospitals follow slightly different guidelines on blood thinners and pregnancy though 🌸 x

I was put on inhixa injections and aspirin due to pai1 gene polymorphism heterozygous and I’m consultant led due to multiple miscarriages. The consultant wants me to stay on blood thinners until 2 weeks after birth and have 2 weekly scans from 30 weeks to keep an eye on placenta.

Thanks dear. I hate the tummy injections :(Glad to know you are being looked after. It's hard to reach my midwife and not yet seen by consultant. They assigned consultant cos I am almost 52, have sleep apnea and hemorrhage before.

All the best
