Stopping Progesterone and Inhixa at 12 weeks - frightened 😔

**sensitive post**

My partner and I are 12 weeks pregnant following IVF and we have been discharged to the care of the NHS.

I contacted my private clinic to ask what to do with the medication at 12 weeks and they have told me to reduce my utrogestan and cyclogest this week and stop after seven days.

They have also advised that I come off my Inhixa (which I take for blood clotting conditions) entirely but continue with 75mg aspirin.

I am really frightened about coming off the Inhixa as I've had two miscarriages previously and I expected to be on it for the duration of my pregnancy.

I'm also scared about coming off the progesterone. The fetus has consistently measured a but small 4/5 days.

How do they know that the placenta is ready to take over?

I'm just a bag of nerves at the moment. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thank you

I would contact your midwife and tell them your concerns and ask them to book you an urgent appointment with a consultant. I'm in a similar position. Positive for Lupus Anticoagulant (APS) and my clinic's protocol takes me until 12 weeks, past that they said it's up to the maternity team to decide.

I've got an appointment booked on the 16th with the haematologist at 12+6 but have been told to stay on Clexane and Aspirin until then x

I've got a few days left of my Inhixa so I have also planned to stay on that until my 13 week scan next week and will try and convince the consultant to keep me on it x all the very best

Hi AracLl,Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I am 23 weeks pregnant with twins and was told by my clinic to stop taking progesterone and oestrogen following the 12 week scan. I was really nervous about coming off, as I thought I was 11 days and a few days at the time. However the 12 week ultrasound dated the pregnancy based on the CRL of the babies and showed I was actually 12 weeks and 1 day. I spoke to the my midwife and obstetrician about it at the time and they reassured me that the placenta would take over.

I stopped the medication as directed at 12 weeks, but was so nervous went for a private scan at 15 weeks to check in on the babies and they were fine, living their best life in the womb.

I am sorry I cannot really comment on Inhixa, as was not prescribed that medication.

I agree with Lisa843, please do not be afraid to express your concerns to your midwife.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you so much. I'll start to reduce from today and monitor it carefully. Thankfully I have a scan on Monday which will be reassuring hopefully x

Hi lovely, I'm just a week behind you and my clinic called today to give me the weaning off meds plan (also nervous!!). They said with the Inhixa I should check with my obstetrician if they'd like me to continue taking it. I don't have a clotting disorder that I know of (my clinic prescribed it as standard) so if I was you I'd talk to your NHS consultant and see what they recommend. If you do have a clotting disorder I would definitely be wanting to stay on it.xx

Hi AracLl, Congratulations on your pregnancy. It's definitely a good idea to discuss this with your consultant and midwife, but I just wanted to let you know that we do have a separate group for people who are pregnant after fertility problems which may be helpful for support. We have monthly online meetings and there is a closed Facebook group which you can find here - facebook.com/groups/Fertili...
