12 weeks but bleeding!

hi guys, we just had our 12 week scan after our first round of ivf… I’ve been bleeding for the last couple of weeks on and off and for the last week it’s been very dark brown… the last couple of days it’s gotten a little heavier but I’m not in any pain or even have any cramping. At several scans they have seen the presence of a large area of bleed so hopefully it’s just that coming away and out but I’m so worried I could miscarry at any time and on top of all this I basically just lost my job! So very stressed at the moment. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like I can’t keep going back for scans all the time and there’s nothing they could do anyway but I just want the bleeding to stop now! Feeling quite low and vulnerable. 😫

Hi, I’ve had several scans and a few blood tests and they always seem to come back with progesterone ok!

hematomas are common (especially with ivf), but should be monitored if causing consistent bleeding from what ive been told. if its severe they may put you on light duty/bed rest until its resolved itself.

I had a sch, had three significant bleeds up to 12 weeks, but it was bright red blood with cramps! Baby was absolutely fine throughout but I was having regularly scans with the early pregnancy unit every two weeks from 5 weeks. If you are anxious or worried ring the mau and get seen, they won't have a problem seeing you and will offer you reassurance. Hematomas are common in pregnancy especially with IVF. They should reabsorb eventually, I was lucky enough that mine had reabsorbed by 12 weeks but the first trimester was hard because of it!

hello lovely. I am sorry about your job. So stressful but it’s will be ok. Did you tell them you were pregnant?

As for the bleeding are you on aspirin? Or any other blood thinners? Someone already said Hemotomas are very very common. I had one in the first 12 weeks too and did the same thing had weekly scans (for a heartbeat) and reassurance and but she was just fine. 12 weeks today and a little bundle of fun…if you are in London you can go to the EPU for a scan. I used the walk in service once. Can you do that?

If you are on the blood thinners etc I stopped it for 48 hours and then went back on it. Can you try that? Check with the consultant first though. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you just take one day at a time . Hope/anxiety and fear are an awful combination but you got this far so stay positive and be so so kind to yourself….

Firing a pregnant woman is illegal in my country. You should check the law for your area. As far as bleeding I would recommend bed rest. I had hematomas with both my pregnancies and my doctor with 50 years of experience was adamant that bed rest can prevent the worst in those cases, even if some studies suggest otherwise. He thinks modern medicine does not support bed rest for pregnant women because it is inconvenient for the employers. Who knows if he is right. I did have positive outcomes. Wishing you all the best.
