5dp5dt bleeding and cramping

hi lovely people 👋 I haven't had any symptoms and then I had a period like cramp this morning, pink blood when I wiped and since then on and off cramping and on and off brownish/pink bleeding when I wipe, only a tiny bit made it to a pad I've worn since this morning. I'm on 2x cyclogest and 2x lubion so don't think I can go any higher in terms of progesterone (?) I don't spot before my period in a normal cycle. I know no one can tell me what this means for sure but the anxiety is getting the better of me so if there are any positive stories of bleeding/ cramping at this stage post FET I'd love to hear them 🧡🥰🧡🥰🧡🥰 as always my love and appreciation to you all xxx

Hi,

I had a very similar experience 7 days after my frozen embryo transfer. Pink/ brownish spotting continued until day 10 and stopped. It was implantation bleeding in my case. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Hi Katie, thanks so much for that and congratulations to you 🧡 did you manage to hold off testing until OTD? x

Hi try2020, from other experiences I’ve read bleeding with a FET cycle can be very common and ranges from brown to bright red. I had really strong period like cramps and painful lower back ache during my 2ww and I thought I was out but I had a positive outcome. I also had a very heavy bleed of bright red blood and clots at 5 weeks and thought it was all over, but I’m now 15 weeks. Bleeding is scary and naturally going to add to the anxiety. I just wanted to share my story to show that it’s not always worst case scenario. If you can rest up, look after yourself and try not to test early. Keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome for you xx

Thanks Tilly, I panicked seeing pink so I can only imagine the distress of a heavy bleed! Brilliant to hear you are pregnant 🧡 thanks for the advice, yes not going to overdo it that's for sure! x

Definitely! I did bed rest for a week - just off my own back not necessarily medically advised. But felt I had to just do what I could until I had that first scan. Really hope everything’s fine with you too xx

I had a fresh cycle where 2 embryos were transferred, so not entirely matching you but 8dp5dt I started spotting brown/pink blood which then turned into a full on heavy period like flow with red blood so my husband and I thought we were out. As it turns out, I got my BFP on Saturday which I was honestly not expecting. Speaking to the nurses at my clinic, they told me that the Crinone progesterone gel I was using could have irritated my cervix which has caused the bleeding, it’s possibly been implantation bleeding (which it sounds like it could be in your case) or it’s maybe that I’ve lost one embryo and the other has implanted. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that although seeing blood is terrifying in our situation, it doesn’t always mean it’s a bad thing. Try not to panic or google the life out of it as it only adds to the anxiety. I wish you all the best for your 2ww 🥰.

Awe thank you xDG and congratulations to you on your BFP, that must have been amazing after that scary bleed! I hope both your embryos (if you are down for having twins) are snuggledin safe 🧡 Yes you are right google is definitely a mine field and I need to put the phone down..... did you wait until OTD to test? hope all goes well for you x

Thank you lovely 🙂. Definitely not against twins, I'll just be happy with a healthy baby/babies either way. Yeah, the bleed was scary. I contacted the clinic when it was just spotting and they said it was fine and not to worry about it, only worry if it turns into a heavy red bleed, so when I called the next day to tell them it had done just that the nurse wasn't very convincing. She sort of stumbled over her words and gave it "Yeah, I mean it's not great but just wait until Monday to test". I decided on Friday that I couldn't hack waiting all weekend for the awful news I was expecting, so popped out to get some tests and done two Saturday, two Sunday and three on Monday. All of them came back with 2 pink lines (the first I've ever had so that was an amazing feeling) but now I'm terrified waiting another fortnight for my 7wk scan. I've decided I won't torture myself googling every symptom (or lack of symptoms) and won't continue testing because if one test is slightly lighter rather than getting darker it causes a whole other level of anxiety which we just don't need. For now, I'm going to enjoy being pregnant and keep everything crossed that we see that flicker of a heartbeat on the screen 🤞. We haven't told our family about our IVF journey, they are all convinced that we don't want kids (despite our 5yr battle) so we really hope that it all works out so we can surprise them all. We had our transfer one week before the 1st anniversary of my grandmothers passing, and if we're lucky this time round the baby will be born just ahead of her birthday which would be lovely.

I'll keep everything crossed that your bleeding doesn't get any worse like mine did, but do try to take some comfort that bright red bleeding isn't always a bad thing. We just automatically think the worst because we're programmed to see red blood and think it's not going the way we hope. Please do let me know how you get on. Wishing you all the very best for your OTD 💞😘

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, the clinic called me this morning and have said that although bleeding is not ideal as it has stopped there is nothing to be done other than to wait..... she mentioned it could be from the cervix after transfer, or the pessaries irritating the cervix or implantation bleeding. In any case they wouldn't test my progesterone so just to take it easy. As you wise ladies have said. thanks xx
