Utrogestan orally and dizziness/lightheaded feeling

Hello

Just started progesterone today for a FET next week. Around an hour or so after utrogestan tablet orally (200mg) I’ve been feeling really lightheaded and dizzy. Almost like I’m drunk. Ive not had this medication before but had other types of progesterone for my fresh transfer before. I’ve had this medication twice now today so appreciate it is early days.

First time it did wear off eventually. Second dose was around an hour ago and still feeling dizzy. I’ve got another dose later this evening. On the clinic notes for the medication it does mention this as a side effect. Has anyone else had this, and does it get better over time? I’ve been really lucky so far with not having many side effects over the few cycles.

TIA

I took this medication orally and felt completely out of my face like you!! I had originally taken it vaginally but had a little irritation and thought I'd try it orally. I found it's ok to do that if going to bed but not during the day. My coordinator said it's pretty common so you're not alone. Can you switch to using it vaginally?xx

I'm already taking crinone vaginally twice a day so I'm not sure. It's something I can ask my clinic, but keen to keep to their schedule as much as possible so I don't jeopardise anything! So many fingers are crossed for this FET to work!

Definitely ask! I'm sure if you space it out then it'll be ok. Best of luck.xx

I had this too. I had been warned by the nurse that it was a common side effect of ustrogestan. Mine was usually worst around 3pm in the afternoon - i would have to have a lie down!

If you're worried discuss it with your clinicians.

All the best

I had this too, and as Haf05 above I had to lie down and sometimes I slept a bit!

I think you can do both pessaries and gel (I was doing Crinone + Cyclogest) if at least 1h from one another (no longer sure, please check with your clinic!)

When taken orally, it is metabolised quickly to something very like valium so totally understandable it makes people feel really out of it. I assume it is unlikely to wear off with use as it will always have this metabolism, although you may get used to functioning on it. xx
