Does anyone have any experience using Utrogestan 200mg. I start mine tomorrow AM and have to use it 3 times a day. Is it vital it is taken exactly 8 hours in between usage, I'm just trying to figure out my times to fit in with work/sleep etc. Instructions say to lay down for 20 mins to allow absorption..could be fun at work 🤣. Also did anyone experience any side effects?. TIA 😘

Hi there, yes I'm on these right now. I take mine twice a day, at about 8am and 8pm, but not exactly, and it seems to be fine. Side effects include bloating, headaches sometimes, and mild cramping, to start. I think pretty much any symptom that you might think "wait is this down to early pregnancy" is really a result of these. Xx
Heya . I used utrogestan. I don’t think you need to be religious about the 8 hours, as long as you space them out? So if you don’t think mid-work is viable, could you do before work (say 8am), then straight after (maybe 5pm) , then right before bed….? I think I got the occasional headache but nothing more severe . Good luck x
Hello, I’ve been on them for a few weeks now as I had a BFP last week. I have done it at work at lunch time and also when I’m out and about. I don’t lie down each time, my instructions didn’t state I needed to do that, if you use the applicators the pessaries go quite far up and the discharge is the capsule. I’ve had to buy a lot of pantyliners but I don't find them much different to changing a tampon. hell I’ve even marched to the work toilets with them in hand. Best of luck!
Hiya, I’m also on this right now. I take mine twice a day so 9am & 9pm. I try and take it at the same time but I have taken it 30 mins early twice. I always lay down straight away for 20 mins as it will slowly come out. If I can’t I sit still, just don’t do any walks. I think as long as it’s been 15 mins you are good. Make sure you wear a slim pantyliner, it will ruin your underwear and does not come out in the wash. Also do not take it from behind, only vaginally. Side effect, I don’t knowwww… I took it on my last transfer and I didn’t have any side effects apart from bloating. This time I’ve had cramps and aching legs. Are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer? Xx
I was taking 4 a day, so 800mg, during my last FET. I became so bloated I seriously could not do up any pants. It was insane. The bloating was also really uncomfortable. My specialist wasn’t very concerned about the timing for Utrogestan. I was told to do it when I first wake up and when I lie down to go to sleep. What they were concerned about was the timing of estrogen replacement. I had to be religious with that.
And like the women above have said, the discharge is gross. The wax capsule melts and gets stuck everywhere when it comes out. You’ll find bits of it in unexpected places 😂.
I’m on these at the moment, although my clinic have always said to use all 3 at night so I think once your body gets used to absorbing it the levels stay fairly steady in your system.Main side effect is waxy discharge. I’ve been using sanitary towels or liners to make it more comfortable but definitely don’t wear your best underwear. I made that mistake on my first cycle and ruined so many pairs with waxy stains. By cycle 3 all glamour went out the window and it’s Bridget Jones pants and liners 🤣
I used it. I can't remember what dose I was on but I was supposed to insert one three times a day and then take one by mouth. I used to fill light headed and dizzy. I informed my doctor and he asked me to stop taking the one by mouth. After that I did not experience many side effects. I was taking it at work too. My second dose fell at lunch time so I could insert it and go into my vehicle and lie down in the back seat for 20 min. But I can tell you it was a relief when I did not need to take it anymore.
I have to take mine x3 a day with six hours in between. I don’t have regular access to toilets at work so my second dose has been up to two hours late because I can’t find a toilet. Not much I can do about it. As long as they are more or less the same time apart I don’t think you need to be religious about it. I’m still getting all the miserable side effects despite not being perfectly on time so they must be getting in my system ok x
I took these for my last cycle. Had to do two at a time, morning and night. I just did them when I got up in the morning and then before I went to bed so certainly didn’t look at the time when doing so. There was definitely more than 8 hours in between.
Like others have said, you’ll need pantyliners. Also leads to bloating but I found these better than cyclogest as I felt the pessaries meant they went further up and also had fewer side effects with utrogestan.
I was told to take 3 tablets on an evening before bedtime just the once a day?! How on earth are you meant to do that during the day if you’re working?! I’d maybe ask your clinic?
I’ve just finished using it, it’s a bit fiddly but you get used to it. Don’t panic if you see little bits coming out of you because I think it’s part of the capsule. I also had a thick white discharge whilst using it. It’s quite sticky. I hope that helps
Hi I’m on three a day. I just do morning lunch and evening. I don’t lie down nor did they say I had to. They just said try to keep it similar times Dailey. Doing it at work is delightful! But the applicator has helped! Like everyone has said get panti liners to save your pants! Good luck! X
Hi, I used it also. I was also using it at work with no issues. Mine was twice a day, morning and night. To be honest I just insert it about the same time. The side effect Im not sure if it was from it or from the lubion injection s j was also taking. The side effect is close to signs of early pregnancy. Confusing but it was Successful. I wish you all the best. Xx
I’ve just finished 3 weeks of this. Took mine after my first morning wee (7 ish) then at 3pm then after my last wee before bed, about 11pm. Only symptoms were mild bloating. Unfortunately it didn’t work for us and my period has just arrived. It’s heavier and more cramping than usual but that’s about it. Starting a fresh IVF cycle next month. Good luck xx
I have been taking capsules so much easier to manage at work! As for side-effects, they're not as bad as I thought they would be (but then i have only been taking them for 4 days). Some dizziness/light headedness - but it usually passes quite quickly.
Hi, I've started mine last night and was thinking the exact same thing, how have you got on with yours? I struggled with mine last night I had abit of discharge this morning.I work in a hospital and am like how am I supposed to do this on a daily basis for 12 weeks?? Help lol xx
Hi Flossy! I haven't had a problem with them to be honest, I think I panicked because they were a different brand to what I have used in previous cycles, but they are no more or less messy. Although I have noticed alot gathering around the tops of my inside leg every so often... chunky thigh problem lol. Wishing you lots of love and luck with your journey xx
