FET tmrw and TSH spiked

Hi guys. I have my second FET tmrw. My tsh was normal last week but I tested again on Friday and results today say 6.3. I am freaking out. They may not thaw the embryo now. 😭

My clinic wants my TSH to be less than 2.5. Best to tell the clinic and see what they say x sorry, this happened to me before a fresh transfer and they wouldn’t transfer due to evidence it can lead to poor implantation / miscarriage

It was 2.5 literally last week. And I’m on meds. It makes no sense

Thanks, Katie. We cancelled last minute. Right before the thaw. I’m so sad. 😔

Better safe than sorry. You don't want to waste an embryos and risk a MC or no implantation due to high TSH levels. Try to get them down to 1 or at least below 2.

I agree. Just was excited to transfer etc

Awww im so sorry to hear this😞Personally I'd wait until your levels have gone back down again

My TSH has fluctuated over the past few months and my clinic prescribed 50mcg levothyroxine. My levels then droped from 3.7 to 1.67 in a few weeks. Ideally they would like your levels to be below 2.5 when having your transfer

Are you taking anything to manage your TSH currently?xx

I am on levothyroxine. That’s why this was so bizarre. It was 2.18 a week prior and then spiked above 6. I think stress from my job made it flare up.

Thank you all for the support xoxo

I realise this is an old thread but this is happening to me as we speak! 🥺 my TSH was 0.3 prior to taking oestrogen and it’s gone up to 2.85 in 11 days. My consultant has said if it goes over 3 he’ll cancel the cycle. I’m pretty sure it will be over 3 already as 2.85 was yesterday. It’s to do with the oestrogen affecting the TSH. Tbh tho they don’t normally check people’s TSH so closely. Babydustforall when did they check your TsH? The day before transfer and when else? Honestly, I can’t cope either. I’ve literally just had three months of Prostrap injections. If they make me wait I might just tell them to PGS test my 5 blastocysts because I’m done with all of this x

Oh no!!! I’m so sorry to hear!! They didn’t check it through my fertility clinic. I tested for my endocrinologist bc I have since been diagnosed with Hashimotos as a result of all the estrogen. Are you on synthroid/levothyroxine?

Yes because I had a total thyroidectomy 11 years ago due to thyroid cancer. I don’t feel my clinic is giving me the clearest plan so I’m going to ask for bloods tomorrow and take the progesterone and pred as planned… maybe there is time to bring it down to below 3 before next Thursday?

Btw anything below 4 is still safe by medical standards. IVF docs just like 2.5 because of the estrogen

Do you mean because the oestrogen will push it up more? Mine was 0.3 at the start of my FET cycle now on day 11 of oestrogen and it’s 2.85! He’s said he’ll cancel if it goes over 3 but FET isn’t for another 6 days so I could get this down?

Yes, sorry. I am not a doc but from my experience as you increase estrogen or on it longer, it causes your tsh to spike. In order to counter act that, you need slightly more levothyroxine

Mine was 2.3 and went to 6 in a week and then back down to 1.0 about 8 days later
