Hi all,

Posting first time, but I've been following for a while now.

I am scheduled to have FET in July and my TSH level came back as slightly higher than recommended for the first trimester (recommendation is up to 2.5), FT4 is within the normal range. My doctor doesn't think it's an issue, so I am just wondering what experiences have you all had with this? Do you have any stories related to increased levels of TSH and a successful pregnancy? Have you had similar results and been recommended a treatment? Should I insist to be put on medication? I would like to hear your experiences and how your doctors approached the issue. Please share your stories

Many thanks XXX

Without a doubt your TSH needs to be below 2.5. Actually specialists like it to be less than 2, ideally 1 when ttc and 1st trimester. If possible find a doctor who specializes in endocrinoloy, so you get the right dose of medication. I would keep pushing because proper thyroid level is one of the most crucial things for a successful pregnancy. None of the 3 clinics I worked with would even begin IVF until my level was below 2. It's an easy thing to fix and unnecessary risk to ignore it.

Hi NennaN. Usually preferred to be under 2.5, although that's not too high. Good luck! Diane

Hi katiehopeful81,

The first time I checked TSH level it was 2.69. My doctor put me on a minimum dose of levothyroxine for about a month before my first FET, which brought it down to 2.49. The transfer was medicated and it didn't work so I stopped with all medications, including levothyroxine. This was in February this year.

When I was preparing for my 2nd frozen transfer I checked levels again in early July, and TSH had increased to 3.13, so I started with a little bit higher dose of levothyroxine than the previous time. I measured it again in late August just before the 2nd transfer, which was a natural FET, and it was 2.1. The transfer unfortunately didn't work.

This time I didn't stop taking levothyroxine in hope to decrease the levels further and try with another FET next month. I'll probably check it again in October.

I hope this helps!
