Endometriosis and FET

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had experience in having a lap for endo close to FET. I had to pause treatment due to OHSS, but due to start again next month for transfer. I have stage 4 endo and the pains are getting a lot worse again and I haven’t had a lap for two years.

Would it be best for me to have a lap before FET and also how long would I have to wait for transfer if I did. I have private medical so can have the lap asap. I just wasn’t sure if I should or not?

Thank you and happy new year x

hi there,

I am 38 and also have stage 4 endometriosis. My problem is that my ovarian cysts make it quite hard for egg collection, so it would be great to do a laparoscopic. However, due to my age, I would rather take my chances with the cysts than to further damage my ovarian reserve with another laparoscopy. I already had one 3 years ago.

If you have frozen embryos and can risk lowering your ovarian reserve, go for the laparoscopy. If not, don’t. That’s my 2 cents.

Good luck,

🍀

we worked with a fertility nutritionist as we both have health conditions and we have ende duo with 6 top grade embryo’s in the freezer. We evened up not even having to have icsi as my husbands soerm changed so much. So grateful, I was quite poorly from the Ohss. I am also 38, do you know how long after lap you need to wait for transfer?

I have also had 7 natural early miscarriages in the past 4 years ago and more. I have lots of medical conditions which I now know about and working so with an amazing recurrent miscarriage clinic. But it’s all still so scary and now I’ve had time to think I’m scared of transfer. I had a dream last night about the laparoscopy and I hadn’t even thought about it before that. So I’m now even more worried.

Good luck to you, this is 9 years in and I’m so over it xx

I was very similar, stage 4 endo, had lap 2 years ago and because I trying to conceive they didn't do much too it for fear of damaging ovaries. Another cyst formed between that and ivf but they managed to do egg retrieval around it.

thank you for your comments. I have 6 embryos in the freezer now. I just wasn’t sure if I needed the endo removed again before transfer. Mine tends to come back quite quickly and I haven’t had a lap in two years, not sure if this would cause a problem with implantation.

I would have thought Lap before the FET. For some reason the body goes into overload after a Op. The IVF is more likely to work. Also the drugs given in the 2nd half of IVF Endometriosis likes, so the less that's there the better.

thank you for that advise and do you know how long you have to wait after a LAP to have the FET?

Hi, I recently had surgery and was diagnosied with stage 4 endo. I still have 2 more cycles left. My advice would be do the surgey after you have collected all your eggs as it can have an impact on ovarian reserve. Depending on your clinic, they may say wait 1-2 cycles before transfer.

Thank you. I’m not doing egg collection again. I’ve got 6 embryos in the freezer and after 9 years of struggles miscarriages etc one egg collection is enough after getting Ohss. I will not be putting myself through that again 😬 so I’m just more worried about if I have endo will it impact implantation. There’s such contradictions in information. I’ve had two laparoscopies in the past four years. I only got one cycle on NHS.

If this all doesn’t work, we want our lives back and to live again if that makes sense. We have been on hold for too long. It’s hard to get to that decision, but it’s the right one for us.

Thanks for your advise, I’m going to speak with our clinic and see what they think 😊

Hi,I m trying my best to give you the answer here, i also have endometriosis but don't know which stage, my doctor removed it in 2020 by laprascopy. And tried to natural conceive but no success in 2021 December we started our ivf. Before the day of egg retrieval got corona positive. At the time of recovery from corona got my periods. As my periods stops and got recover from corona in January 2022 my consultant started the procedure she didn't told me that due to the injections for last retrieval my ovaries got bulky and i had OHSS as they didn't retrieve the eggs due to corona and new eggs started forming because she started my injections. In the same cycle on 8th feb 2022 they transferred 3 days blastocyst.

And got positive result.now i have my baby biy.

But my personal suggestion is treat for ohss first. And in my case endometriosis did not cause any harm.

As i have uterus tuberculosis also.

I hope i cleared something.

Best of luck and happy new year 🎉

so happy you’ve had a positive outcome. I will be due my third cycle after OHSS soon. They said it’s best to wish 3 cycles before transfer. I have stage four, I just don’t don’t know what’s best. Waiting to hear back from my IVF clinic. Congratulations on your baby x
