I got my first ivf cycle done and for the first embryo transfer they put 2 embryos, unfortunately both my hcg results show below 5 which means it's negative but I still haven't got my period
Dr said they could be a possibility of the treatment being unsuccessful
Plz help ladies, did anyone have this experience

It is fairly common to wait to get your period. After my first unsuccessful transfer it took about 9 days to come and my second didn't take long but the next period took about 58 days. It's the medication and hormones messed up! 😕
Why doesn't the first time work? It's so hard but thank you hun for your reply
Yes as Ac22 says its very common for periods to be a bit messed up. When did you stop your drugs? Takes a while for your body to realise whats going on.
Sorry it didnt work out. The first round is so often a learning round and your consultant will be in great shape to make round 2 much more successful xx
I got my ivf done in southAfrica at BioArt fertility clinic its a private clinic, everything seemed to be going fine but my hcg showed low which meant negative and today I got my periodI'm so heart broken thinking of all the ways why my treatment didn't work
I'm so sorry to hear your transfer failed. After my failed transfers I usually get my period around 5-10 days after I've stopped medication, everyone is different though and the medication your on can delay your period
Do you have any frozen embryos to try again soon?
After my failed transfers, I had an ERA test to ensure they were transferring my embryos at the correct time and they found I needed an extra 12 hours on progesterone (rather than having 5 days on progresterone.. I needed 5 and a half days)
I also had immune testing and found I have over active UNk cells, so I am treating that with prednisolone (steroids)
There's many reasons it doesn't work first time, IVF is like a jigsaw puzzle (every cycle you learn more) I don't know if it's to soon to rush into further testing as it could have been bad luck but I'm sure your Dr can give you the best advice 😊
Best of luck I hope it works for you second time around 🤞xx
I'm so sorry it didnt work this time. Its heartbreaking but hopefully they will have learnt a bit more and will be able to tweak your next protocol. My period is always delayed after a failed transfer - it just takes the system a while to get back in sync again after being pumped full of hormones. xx
