i was wondering if someone who has already done the treatment can tell me what I should expect when they are transferring the embryo back in me. Will I be awake while they do it and if so how long is the procedure and is it painful???
I'm so nervous.

Hi, I didn't find it too bad. I think everyone is usually awake for the transfer, I was. The biggest problem was I had a full bladder and they were running late, so that caused discomfort. Otherwise, it's like a smear test but a little bit more as they are putting something back into you. I had a bit of discomfort but nothing major. Good luck xx
Hi, yes you'll b awake and it's not painful just a little uncomfortable while they insert..just prepare to be emotional as they showed us the embryo on the screen and the whole procedure and what it meant got to me. Try and relax and good luck! X
Hi,Ive just finished my first cycle and am 5 weeks pregnant today the transfer was nothing to worry about, I had a valium prescribed as I was nervous about it. The doctor would do the same for you I'm sure and it just helps to relax you. Good luck with your cycle xx
That was the easiest bit for me, in and out so quickly (drank my water on way to the clinic for a full bladder), the staff amazing and positive. Even got a "photo" of our embryos. How many people can say baby's first pic is 3 days after fertilisation hey!
Hi thanks for the reply back I think that is the only part which is on my mind. I'm going to start the pills soon. I will let you ladies know how I get on. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck to you all and congratulations iuf03311 hope you have a healthy pregnancy. 😊
I was awake for my transfer. You need a full bladder but they don't want you to be uncomfortable so I was told to sip around 250-500ml of water an hour before. You are put in a hospital gown (and if your OH is going in he wears scrubs). The procedure itself is a bit like a smear test. Mine was done by the nurse. I would say it takes 10 mins max and you can see the embryo move into position on the screen. It's a very special but very surreal moment!
