Hi everyone.

So something is going right for us at last after 4 lossss -3 in a row (!). I've got a video call with a miscarriage specialist in just over a months time.

I will be trying to push for the steroids , extra progesterone and test my thyroid as my tsh was 3.3 a few years ago- I know it's within normal health range but for TTC it should be under 2.5. My ex fertility specialist said he would only be concerned if my thyroid antibodies are raised which is a test they run for miscarriage.

I take higher folic acid and vitamin D pregnant as well as 150 mg aspirin and cyclogeat 400 mg. can't help but think it's either a cruel numbers game with my endometriosis and age against me or hopefully it's a little tweak to have a successful pregnancy ☝🏻 Definitely need to hear what she has to say . If anyone has any advice of other things I should push /ask I would appreciate it.

As I lost my daughter Amelia at 20 weeks pregnant last November I had all the chromosomes and genetic with her - nothing was found. I had all of the infection tests- again nothing found so in that sense we are ahead of the game! Xx

Hi Jess , Thyroids can play quite a big part in misscarriages .

I did my research on it when I couldn't keep a pregnancy. The consultants tried to say they were not connected at all. I did debunk their theory though with my evidence. Keep on at them if you feel that Thyroid could be a cause for concern.

Lots of love x

I was about to write the same....thyroid is crucial. I would definitely get that straightened out asap. My reproductive endocrinologist likes to keep TSH under 1 when ttc and under 2 during pregnancy. 3.3 is out of range for pregnant women and especially women ttc. For some reason doctors who don't specialize in endocrinology don't know this and it's frustrating. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much. Even my lovely ex fertility specialist was a bit blasΓ© about thyroid levels as I'd only ( at that point) had one loss wasn't concerned over it and if he wasn't then no chance with the Gp. I'm sure the miscarriage specialist is much more clued up on it. I hope all is well with you? Xx

Your thyroid controls your placenta until 12 weeks when the feutus takes over maintaining their own placenta x

Thank you so much. I think the thyroid is important so I will definitely mention it. I might look at private bloods to cut my waiting down hmm. Hope you and the girls are well and okay love to you all Xx

This is great advice about the thryoid. Just to add though - you should push for some of the other (less common) thyroid tests as well. A complete panel should include TSH, free T4, free T3, thyroid peroxidase antibody, and thyroglobulin antibody. It's not uncommon to have 'normal' results on several markers but still turn up something abnormal on the others. xx

Thank you so much, I really hope so don't want another loss emotionally very draining 😒☝🏻 I'm so sorry your transfer was cancelled- I remember your baby was due same time as my Amelia was such awful timing for you so cruel πŸ₯² I really hope you can re coup try again and have a successful pregnancy πŸ₯° This year has to be a better year for us both ☝🏻 Xx

Good luck for the appointment - you may have already had one but after my 3rd MC I was referred for both a hysteroscopy and also an MRI of my uterus which found a few things we didnt know were there! Might be worth a try x

Thank you. I did have a few years ago but things can definitely change so I will add that to my list of questions to ask her. Definitely hope for answers before risking another loss. I hope all is well with you? Xx

The HealthUnlocked Thyroid UK forum is good for asking thyroid questions they literally know everything and are so passionate about making sure people get the right tests!

I also had thyroid issues only found after two, luckily very early, miscarriages. Alongside thyroid issues can be prolactin issues which I also had - it was too high. They did an MRI scan to check for a (harmless) tumour on my pituitary gland (there wasn’t one) and put me on bromocriptine to bring my levels down after which I was successful at first round of ivf and am now 33 weeks.

Thank you and huge congratulations. This fills me with huge hope- I'm so sorry you had to suffer 2 losses to get your answers. I think it's cruel women have to have a few losses before someone will investigate πŸ₯² my CCG required 3 losses in a row for a referral to miscarriage clinic- the fact I lost my second daughter Amelia at 20 weeks should've been enough to get a referral ( some hospitals do allow after a late loss) I suppose it's like fertility treatment varies throughout the county's so rubbish. I'm very thankful for our 22 month old daughter who took us 7 years and 3 surgeries for my endo to have her, but since having her it's been loss after loss. It's so emotionally draining. Definitely want answers before trying again. All the best with the rest of your pregnancy hope all goes smoothly. Look forward to your birth announcement πŸ₯° newborn snuggles are gorgeous enjoy 😊 Xx
