My first AMH reading was ~16 in July 2018, then ~5 in May 2020. My last reading was a few weeks ago: ~11!
I believed it was a lab error either in my second or second last measurement, but the NHS consultant who revised my failed cycle said that fluctuations are normal (well, that's a huge fluctuation), while another consultant (we moved to a private clinic) said that this highlights problems with the ovary/eggs.
Digging into this forum, I noticed that indeed small fluctuations are not so uncommon, but has anyone had such a huge increase? How was it explained?
If this helps, I am approaching 38.
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Were they done in the same lab? It sounds like there is an error in the 2nd or 3rd test. If I were you I would do another just to confirm, but I also think 5 is not too low for your age?
Yes, they were done in the same lab, the only difference was that the second one was done at CD2, while the third was at CD7. The first was done at a different lab (CD 12). I also believed that one was wrong, but both doctors disagreed. I'll ask for a new test and do it again at CD2.
Both doctors said that my response to stimulation was closer to a 10 than to a 5, but, on the other hand, I was on the max dose of medication allowed -- if I understood this correctly.
Hi there, how confusing! I’ve had a small fluctuation (mine increased) which, as my consultant said isn’t uncommon. I had no idea of this until I got my result. I have always been lead to believe that AMH was a rock solid measurement until I was told it wasn’t and can even change month on month!! I was really shocked. I would check it again if poss but i defo wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that something is amiss until you’ve had it retested. Xx
I also believed that the second was an error, but both doctors disagreed. How confusing... 🤯Now I got a referral for a fourth assessment, waiting for my period to start...
