Feeling really down, low AMH 1.3 - just about to start 2nd round

Hey,

So I’m just about to start my second full cycle of IVF and my AMH results are in at 1.3 which is way lower than I was expecting. I’m 35 😞

Last round I was on 225 menopur and managed to get 10 eggs, (4 blasts) sadly none worked. This time the consultant is upping my stims to 450 (I think he said ovaleap?) and giving me testosterone gel too.

I guess I’m just on here looking for reassurance that I still have hope? I’m feeling so deflated and wanted to start this round full of optimism.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I recently had results of 2.2 and 1 and I’m 28. I put a post up not long ago and had a couple of people commenting with success stories, which did help.

I’m waiting on my treatment, but my nhs nurse and consultant have emphasised that I may need to prepare for donor eggs. Not what I want to hear at all, but it’s getting me mentally prepared and it will help me decide what to do if my nhs round does fail.

I really do feel your sadness and it’s absolutely devastating knowing you may not be able to produce your own child (genetically), but we may be one of the lucky ones with low levels - our eggs should be better quality at least 🤞🏻 xx

Hi. I am not quite in your situation but I would say you have a good response given your AMH. 4 blastocysts is good. It suggests you have a good AFC which is important. Nothing to say it won’t work next time and I would say 35 is still young in terms of egg quality!Did you have fresh then frozen transfers? Are you NHS or private?

Thank you! Yes, I had one fresh and 4 frozen, but my next round if I am lucky enough to get eggs then they will all be frozen as the ERA test showed I needed an extra 12 hours of progesterone. NHS at the moment!

I think I just need to try and be more positive that we have another go at potentially getting pregnant xx

I agree with Pnw. 10 eggs and 4 blasts is a really really good result for your first round, and whilst I understand you are disappointed you aren't pregnant yet I think you have a lot to be positive about. For comparison I have only ever got blasts once in 6 fresh rounds of IVF and I have an AMH of 11.9!

Try and think positive and focus on this next round being the one, there is no reason why it won't be. Good luck x

Thank you, you’re right - I need to focus on the positives and not the negatives. I think I’ll try and ignore the ‘number’ and just give this next round a go with a positive mindset that it’s one step closer to a potential family. Good luck to you too xx

If its any consolation I have friends who got pregnant on their 7th, 8th and 9th transfers. They didnt do anything different its just sometimes luck! Hopefully this is your lucky try and great you have the ERA results this time too x
