Has any started taken DHEA without talking to their doctor first? We just had a second failed FET and i’d like to do another full round of IVF. I have a follow up with the doc at the end of the month but would like to start taking DHEA asap so i’m on the the road to three months earlier. i’ve seen people recommend testing levels first which I can do myself by ordered a finger prick test. Do I check DHEA alone or with testosterone? What levels should they be? Did you start of with 25mg or go straight for 75mg?
Any info you have on how you approached this would be fantastic!
I’m already taking 400mg ubiquinol (coq10), vit e, vit c, zita west folate.
Age 39 with amh 2.5, diagnosed premature ovarian failure.
thank you xxx

I self prescribed it and had terrible side effects and had to come off it within a couple of weeks so I would always recommend speaking to someone first.. I know thats not what you want to hear but its was horrible! I think probably my levels were too high anyway and I probably should have checked x
Hi have you read it starts with an egg by Rebecca fett? She has a whole section in the book on low amh and also dhea and how to take it safely and what average levels should be etc. It's backed by scientific research and it made me feel optimistic about low amh and how you can increase it
Although I should add that before I go on it I am going to speak to my clinic / GP about it to see if they can advise me about dose according to my levels. As one of the things that frequently comes up is how you need to regularly test to make sure you're not taking too much
I took it at 75mg and it was fine. Also took melatonin 3mg. I’d recommend adding vitamin b complex and D and Omega 3. My consultant told me to start l’argenine on my last cycle too and that one worked xx
Hi I would advise getting your DHEA and testosterone levels checking prior to starting to see if it’s necessary. Like mentioned earlier the book “it starts with the egg” states the levels they should be. I suppose you could start at a lower dose 25mg daily, see if you tolerate it and check levels after 4 weeks, then increase as needed. That’s what I’ve done. You don’t want your levels to go too high. I would say it’s definitely worth a try x
Thank you everyone! I feel suitably warned off taking it without talking to the doc and getting my levels checked first so I will hang on till the end of the month
