I'm 36 with low AMH (somewhere between 4.6-6 pmol/l, I have tested three times and had different results!). My first round of IVF was cancelled in February pre egg collection due to me ovulating unexpectedly (apparently this is really unusual and they don't really know why it happened).
Now they want to do long protocol to down regulate me so the same issue doesn't arise again. I'm worried as I only had about five viable follicles developing in the last round, even though I was on 300 iui menopur. I asked doctor if we should increase to 450 iui this round to give the follicles the best boost possible but he said that there isn't any significant evidence that increasing to 450 iui menopur increases the number of follicles.
My question is should we push to have the menopur increased, and have any of you had success with a dose increased from 300 to 450?
Thanks!

Hmmm - I've been on 225 Meriofert and 300 Meriofert, my eggs were noticeably poorer quality on 300 and I get my best results on 225 so I don't know if I would push to have it increased if the dr isn't keen... just my experience though, we're all so different and our bodies react to meds so differently! But I didn't get more eggs on a higher dose personally. I've only ever done short protocol.
Hey honey, As my point of view 300iu dose is already too high. I had my blood test 5 days after Menopur. My Amh level had reduced that what I expected. I’m 39 so I'm not shocked but worried. My consultant told me to increase the dose to 375iu by next week. They want to take another blood test and scan after that to know the change. My ovaries are not responding as they should be. So, I’m just freaking out. I thought maybe it would work. I try to be optimistic. As my leaflet firstly told that the dosage being 70-300iu a day but now it is more than that. I can understand but practically it’s not easy. If anyone has experience ?? I like to accept all….
Hi I have very low AMH and gone through 3 ICSI and honestly found my worst results came when I was on the highest dose of menpur 300iui. My ovaries just refused to come to the party. Other two rounds much lower stims and better quality embryos. I've not had success yet but I'll keep going for lower stims esp with my AMH levels.
I am similar 35 and amh of 3 with 5 follicles . I was in 450 just menopur for my first round and got 2 mature eggs . On my second round the same dose of FSH but split between menopur and bemfola and this time got 12 mature eggs . Before the first cycle I had had two separate scans at different clinics both showing the same number of follicles ( 5 ) over a period of about 4 months . They don’t understand how I jumped numbers so much in the second cycle ? But one suggestion was because I did the cycles back to back . My consultant things the whole thing is down to stress as I took time off work for second cycle and started yoga - apparently this can have a huge effect on some people and I was off the scale stressed the first time round . Anyway maybe ask about mixing FSH drugs / take some time off and see what happens ? Good luck !!!!
Wow that amazing, like you i have had 3 rounds where i didnt produce more than 2 eggs, through i started with 4-5 follicles each time. But ive never used bemfola so i will look into that. Its seems menopure, gonalf and meriofert are the most common, dont know why. Are you now pregnant?
Thanks so much for all your replies really appreciated. As we didn’t get to egg collection I guess I’ll stick with 300 menopur this time & then think about reducing if no luck.
