Bemfola vs menopur

Folks really need your advise here as I am getting myself into a state over this, my clinic rang today to take payment before I collect my drugs on 20th. I asked what drugs I will b on as at my review in April the consultant had said he would either do the flare or keep me on the same stimms as previous 2 cycles ( bemfola) just increase the dose to 375 and possibly add a bit of menopur. So today the nurse that rang for payment tells me I will b on all menopur at 375. Of course my consultant is in London at a conference so I can't get speaking to him but they want me to pay for my treatment. Menopur is prob fine but just because iv nvr had it before I want to know what ppls opinions on it/bemfola are? Ps I am a slow responder, first cycle i got 3 eggs on 225iu bemfola and 2nd cycle i got 6 eggs on 300 iu then increased to 375 midway. Is menopur stronger for poor responders or ladies with low amh ?

I really have no definite info, but I THINK that bemfola is all FSH whereas menopur is 50% fsh and 50% LH. High doses of LH sometimes aren’t great for eggs is my understanding, it’s rare you see low amh people on high doses of menopur only, it’s normally a mix, or bemfola/gonal-f on its own, so I would definitely push them for an explanation!xx

I will be using menopur for my 2nd ivf cycle for this very reason... I got 28 eggs on gonal f last time and ended up with just 2 embryos suitable for transfer... so this time round our consultant wants to use a lower dose of menopur with the aim of getting a smaller number of better quality eggs!

Hey thanks for the reply, I assume u don't have a low amh with 28 eggs, I only got 6 on 375 of gonalf. What dosage of menopur are u getting? he has down 375 of menopur for me, which isn't a low dosage. I'm just worried with me having low amh/ slow responder I already produce too much lh then with the 50% lh in menopur it will b too much therefore not great quality eggs. It's a real lottery I think to b honest.

Sorry I don’t have much info about the difference. During my fresh cycle, I was on bemfola to begin with but then hey added in menopur on top to help stimulate more follicles.

Stand your ground- there is no reason why they should insist on payment now without a discussion with your consultant on why it is different to what you are expecting. They still have two weeks before your delivery!!!
