We are now revisiting the idea of using uk clinic for our DE.. after months of agonising & our hope to go abroad to start our journey being dashed due to Covid we feel plan b is our most realistic option .
So I’m hoping for some advice & personal experiences ? .. egg sharing seems the option for us .. we have a call booked for tomorrow with uk clinic .
Hope your all well & safe

Egg sharing is a bit dangerous in my personal opinion, as you need to rely completely on how many eggs the ‘donor’ will have....if she has 10 fine, it’s 5 each (although not many...) but if it’s not a great cycle and she has 5, she can decide not to share and you’ll be back on the waiting list 🙈I find it extremely unfair...would be better to find a 1:1 donor if you can. There are agencies that offer this service like for example Altrui. Good luck 🍀🤞🏻
Hi thanks for replying, yes that was briefly discussed when I spoke to the clinic.. it’s another mind field 😫 I’ll need to do some more research I think
Hi!I'm just about to start a donor egg cycle in the UK.
We had different options :
- egg share (minimum of 6 guaranteed but if donor does not get enough eggs then you might not receive any. Also these 6 eggs are not necessarily mature eggs)
- 1:1 donor (you will get all eggs in that cycle, we have a guarantee of 6 eggs, but hopefully should get more. Once again they might not all be mature. This is obviously more expensive option)
- Frozen eggs (if the clinic has frozen egg bank that might be best option as all frozen eggs are mature and you pay per egg)
We wanted to do frozen eggs but they only have a very small selection in our clinic in the frozen egg bank and we really liked the sound of a fresh donor so we decided to go for a 1:1 cycle.
We have a guarantee of 6 eggs minimum but hoping for more.
How exciting next month will be for you , sending you lots of luck 🤍 Iv been reading lots of information today & I’ll be asking our clinic questions tomorrow about frozen . Ideally 1:1 is what we feel we want . I contacted a donor clinic & they are not cheap obviously then add the ivf cycle & medication on top ! My heads frazzled.. Please keep me posted on your journey xx
Don’t forget to ask about waiting times as well, they can go up to 12 months (+ Covid backlog!) which is a crazy amount of time to wait!!!! Good luck 🤞🏻
Hi we are doing our first donor cycle in the uk next month. We had the same options as user20. We decided frozen was right for us. When we decided using a donor we had to change clinics as the one we were at had a 2 year waiting list 😱! We looked at waiting times in other clinics and decided on the one we are with now, they have been so good, we had initial appointments in November and chosen our frozen package in January. They have taken us through everything step by step. There are lots of things to think about but I’m so happy with our decision. Wishing you all the best Good luck xxxx
Hiya thanks for sharing... wishing you lots of luck & strength with your up & coming treatment . I’m all over the place tbh ... we were ready to start with our clinic in Greece & feeling hopeful . Iv been looking at all the options in the uk and my head hurts !
Hoping our clinic will give me some guidance tomorrow 🤞🏼.. keep us posted on your journey xx
Hi, I have just had a successful donor cycle. I had egg sharing but my donor had successfully given eggs in the past. For our cycle she produced 24 so I had 12. 6 went to blastocyst. It’s worth looking into if she has donated before xx
