One or two?

Hi all.

We are just taking meds for our 5th FET - we have 2 embryos left from our first collection and are eligible to transfer 2 and for another NHS round - just trying to make a decision.

I'm not on a down regulation cycle this time no buserelin. Just oestrogen and progesterone and blood thinners after transfer.

1. Just wondering if anyone had had success on this protocol?

2. How did you decide between 1 or 2 embryos?

Thanks for your help.

My husband and I have literally played rock paper scissors to decide.

This is the protocol that I used. The down regulation did not do me any favours so my clinic agreed for me to skip it! Its soooooo much easier & quicker. As for the embryos, I've always put 2 back if I had them....so long as you're prepared for the prospect of twins!! Good luck lovely, you deserve it!!xxx

I just hope we get to the same point as you! If we literally end up using the same protocol after all the messing around!

We are happy for the prospect of twins. How are you?

I'm doing good thanks!! No major issues being pregnant with twins and I've kept really well so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but all good.I really hope you have a tonne of luck this time around!!🤞🏻🙏🏻xxx

Hi lovely, hope you're OK. Are you using your ERA protocol for this FET? I'd always go with 2 embryos if you have them because the chances are just that little bit higher. I also think that about 30% of embryos from each cycle are chromosomally correct (apparently) so I would rather put 2 back in, and one of them be right, rather than do 2 singles where only 1 works - if that makes sense? xx

Yeah im using the ERA timings too. 😊 I think that's where our heads at too x

Only transfer 2 if you genuinely believe you can carry/raise multiples. Twins always seem like the IVF dream but twin pregnancy can be brutal(I was in bed rest from 18 weeks) and high risk (husband could have lost me and the twins during the birth)

Hi, on my last ivf cycle I transferred 2 embryos as the likelihood of success is higher (although the likelihood of twins also increases by a lot!) as long as you are happy to go through a twin pregnancy and raise twins too, then I would go for 2 as well.

I’ve had double embryos put back twice and will do again for my next one. I seem to find there’s more chance of at least one implanting if I have two put back (from past experience) and I’ve taken the medications you have. Are you taking any vitamins? I definitely recommend pregnacare.

I would do two. Wishing you the best of luck, this will be the one fingers crossed!

Wishing you lots of luck :) if we were allowed 2 I think we'd do 2 but clinic are still very pro 1 (I think its just our clinic and on first positive it split into three so can understand where they're coming from). Do you mind me asking about the blood thinners - are these injections and is it something they're giving a go to see if it helps or have tests come back to say you need them?

Xx

Thanks for your reply. We have a very pro 1 clinic too. But we are eligible for 2 now. We have had tests to say we don't need them but apparently they can help implantation so that's why they've stayed for the protocol, and they won't do any harm. I'm on injections of clexane after we've had the embryo transferred.

So are we but they're still pro 1 😬😂 ok thanks for the info and I'm so glad they're allowing you to go on them regardless. really hope this is your time xx

Hey, I was always very pro 2 and had 3 double transfers but on my last round I had a single embryo transfer and we got a BFP and now nearly 24 weeks. I know lots of people have success with 2 but transferring 1 really changed my mind on things! Wishing you lots of luck xx

Hiya totally understand that. We've had 4 single transfers from this batch. I think I'm at a point of wanting to just get them used quicker and if they don't work get a fresh lot collected.

Totally understand that - is such a tough one!! I think I just wanted to try something different and was glad I did! Wishing you lots of luck xx
