Progesterone tests

Hello everyone

I just wanted to know whether you have progesterone levels tested in other clinics? On my failed cycle I spotted from 2dp5dt throughout until my period start at 10dpt. So my consultant has changed how I have my progesterone to 2x pessaries plus lubion injection once a day. (I was doing 3x pessaries a day with no injection). I said about checking my levels and she said I could if I felt like I needed to but didn’t see the point since we were changing things.

I’m basically looking for some back up and someone to agree with me because I feel that when I ring tomorrow and ask to be tested before my FET on Thursday I’ll have to be pushy 🤦🏼‍♀️

I would just say yes you want it tested, just to put your mind at rest, don’t even worry if you feel silly because they seem to think it’s not necessary, your post sounds like they are willing to so just do it for your peace of mind ❤️

I have always been told the injections are better than the pressaries. If you are being moved to injections, from experience this is always a better option.

I would ask to be tested for sure, you want to make sure the levels are good

I was tested just before my FET to ensure my progesterone levels were where they needed to be. My clinic requires it. If you are concerned about your levels then no harm in checking. Better to do it and have the reassurance. It’s your health and sometimes your gut instinct is just as strong as the medicine. Good luck with the transfer!

I was tested 7 days after FET and levels were low despite being on 5 utrogestan/day so had to increase to 8/day. Get them tested for your peace of mind, you know you'll only drive yourself mad with 'what ifs' if you don't. Best of luck xxx

Hey there. My clinic informed me from the start they will test on transfer day(or day before) and on day of beta as a requirement. My previous clinic also tested me throughout my 2ww. Maybe overkill, but I think the fact that many clinics do this means it’s definitely not unreasonable for you to request the test. We have to remember it’s our treatment too and we should be able to have an element of control if it puts us at ease. Hope it all works xx

On my third cycle which was successful I had my progesterone tested day of Transfer. They wanted it around the 50 level at the least. Ideally closer to 100. They put my on twice daily Lubion injections. It quickly increased to 125. Maybe a coincidence but that was the cycle that worked. This was at the zita west clinic in London who are well known for following latest science

I'm planning on doing exactly what you are; getting it checked. I'm also going from 3 pessaries to 2 pessaries and one Lubion.

All my previous attempts have ended in early miscarriage, with early bleeding x

I had my progesterone levels checked before my FET and a few days after. I started off with 2 cyclogest pessaries and 1 Lubion then this was increased to 2 lubion and 3 cyclogest based on my levels. My clinic were really keen to ensure they were above a certain level. I would say definitely ask for them to be checked, that way you will know for sure that your levels are high enough to maximise your chances of successful implantation and pregnancy.

Hi , just wanted to say in November I had my levels checked my self as my Clinc do not test anyway the day before my fet my levels was 21.6 so I decided to cancel the fet as this is my last attempt no 7 I thought to myself it’s never going to go up enough in time, so here I am again going for my fet in early February, this time I am taking 3 Lubion, 3 cyclogest so I am hoping my levels will go up this time we see, xxxxx

I had my progesterone tested for the first time today on transfer day. That’s because I went through the implantation clinic at my clinic (specialised in failed implantations, investigations etc etc). I wished I’d pushed for this in previous cycles though and not too sure why it’s not commonplace. Would be interested to know if anyone can shed any light....

I will get my results today or tomorrow and if levels are low then I will start the injections straight away as well. If you feel like you want it tested then I would go for it. Good luck xx

Did you get your results? I have asked for this to be tested on my transfer day on tuesday but not had an answer yet. Xx

Hey there. Yes my level was 21. As a general rule levels should be higher than 25 for natural conception. My clinic, obviously from an IVF perspective, likes levels over 50. I started the prontogest injections the day I got the results to boost my levels. As they are intra muscular, they are very effective at raising progesterone levels pretty quickly. I would def recommend pushing to have it tested. Like I say, I don’t know why this test isn’t commonplace 🤷‍♀️X

Are you nhs or private if you dont mind me asking? I am nhs but would pay for this if needed. I think its one of those things that possibly will become routine the next few years. Hope your 2ww is going ok xx

I am private. It’s just a blood test though so even if you have to pay, it won’t be that much. Defo get your clinic on board with the test as if the results are on the low side, it will be them that will to prescribe additional meds etc. Good luck x
