Yayy Booked in for my second round of IVF after first round sadly failed, due to high progesterone at egg collection.
Different protocol this time...instead of short protocol, I’m starting a long protocol. Just wondering if anyone has had similar protocol or any experience stories or advise.
Start norethisterone on Xmas day 🤣
Finish on 12th jan (day before my bday☺️)And start buserelin on the 12th and have baseline scan after a hopeful bleed before starting meriofert on the 18th, alongside a smaller dose of buserelin
When I’ve tried looking up buserelin I’ve seen most people take it, then stop to bleed, whereas it seems I’m on it straight after norethisterone, right through till HcG trigger drug.
Has anyone else had this?
Many thanks in advance
Xx

Hi Nmhbaxy, this is what I’m on at the moment - slight difference was I started buserelin whilst I was still taking norethisterone and am expected to continue it until trigger unless told otherwise by the doctors.
They’ve said this will suppress my hormones so I don’t accidentally release my eggs until they are ready to be collected so I think it’s normal!
Good luck for your upcoming cycle, hope that it all goes well for you xxx
It’s been okay so far, definitely a bit more grouchy and snappy this cycle compared to the first one (I also had short protocol first time round) and also more lethargic but hoping all these will result in a good outcome 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 But aside from that just making sure to eat well (at least 80% of the time lol) and rest as much as possible.
Thank you! I’ll be looking for your updates too in the coming weeks xxx
Yeahh fingers crossed, it means it’s working well. I had no symptoms in my first cycle either, so wondering whether this one will bring a few more along. I’m on a higher dose too.
Thank you, would be nice to hear how your egg collection goes! Xx
All the best. on our first cycle I was also on long protocol and on bureselin for down reg and then alongside menopur for stims too but a lower dose. I had the pill rather than norithisterone to start off with though. Hope this is it for you xx
