Ok so I have an FET in 3 weeks. We have 2 embryos frozen graded 1,1 and 2,2. I’m 42 and both myself and my husband have children from previous relationships, I’ve been sterilised and so we opted for IVF to have a baby of our own. I ideally would like one healthy baby and would happily except twins but the health complications scare me for them and I’m obviously very concerned of triplets for the babies safety and health ,,, It will be our only go at IVF and we have no intentions of going again. I feel because we have children I should be able to conceive but I’m 42 so age is against me. I’m completely stuck in limbo on whether to transfer 1 embryo or 2,,,, 🤷♀️My consultant said 20-25% chance of conception with 1 FET as I’m over 40 and 30% chance with 2 FET he’s happy to support either decision for us ,,,,, Some advice ladies would be great as I’m really not sure what to do 😕😕

**looking for advice** Transfer 1 or 2 embryos???? I'm really not sure 🤔🤷♀️🤷♀️
Hi Blue, I feel you on the decision making as we've been advised to put 2 in next time which we haven't done before as this is our 3rd FET. When you say you have no intentions of going again, do you mean you wouldn't consider two FETs with single embryos or you wouldn't consider another egg collection? I think there is a slightly higher chance of achieving success going one at a time (?), however a BFN / MC is awful and you may save yourself that heartache by putting two in (although I fully understand the risk of twins). Are they tested? If not and if you're only planning on one transfer, at your age I would probably go for two. But it's such a personal decision. Best of luck with it! xxx
Hi thank you for that, I mean I won’t go through IVF again. After my egg collection I was ready for a ET but on the morning I changed my mind as I felt my body had gone through so much the stress I was feeling made me think that it wasn’t going to work. I really am torn because the end result is a healthy baby but because I’ve not had any testing on the embryos I just waited Til blastocyst stage then maybe one of them could be Infertile (Or both who knows) although my husbands sperm count was over average with plenty of strong swimmers. So with that in mind I feel we should be successful but I’m thinking do I put 2 in incase one doesn’t work 🤷♀️
I'm 42 although we have no kids so far. We had lots of negatives and have put back 2 embryos knowing the risks. We are very fortunate to have just found out that we are having twins and are over the moon!! You just need to go with your gut, there are no right and wrongs here!xx
I’ve only ever got a BFP when transferring 2 although the first ended in ectopic which is a risk when doing a double transfer. I’m now 19 weeks with twins.
This will be my last pregnancy even though have 2 more frozen and we can just about afford twins but not going to lie the cost is scary! 🤣
Physically it’s incredibly hard. I was in maternity wear from 8 weeks. I’m 19 weeks now and I can just about walk to the shops/school and back then I’m on sofa/bed rest the remainder of the day as the bump hurts so much and that started a couple of weeks ago. I’m breathless a lot, my heart rate rockets with the smallest activity like walking upstairs. I worked up to the day before my c section with daughter but I’m expecting to have to finish much much earlier this time.
Hi Blue,
I’m 40 and had two single embryo transfers which failed and then I had two put back and one stuck 🥰It was a risk as I’m doing this as a single mum but it was totally worth it so I would definitely recommend you go for it!
Good luck ☺️xxx
Well done you, single momma and going it alone I think that’s amazing and congratulations on producing a little partner in crime 🥰
Thank you for sharing your experience with me it’s definitely helped me make my decision 😊xx All the very best for the future , when are you due? X
It's such a difficult decision, I put a similar post up last year with the same dilemma. I've just turned 43 and thankfully we have just got pregnant after 6 attempts. I decided to have the 1 embryo put back and my consultant agreed with the decision, he said that it depends what grades you have put back but if one isn't as strong as the other it can cause the other embryo to fail, not sure if all Consultants share this opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide to do xx
Hi Clairenix, a huge congratulations on your pregnancy, after so many attempts that’s amazing news for you both 😊 Ok I’ll ask my consultant about that, thanks for letting me know it’s always so good to have other opinions xxx Hopefully it works for us 🤞🏻 Good luck for the future xx
