Inducing period

Has any of you lovely ladies had to have their period induced to start a cycle? If so was their bad side effect and how long did you take it until your period arrives?

My unit just said to me I would be given it if needed but didn’t say much about how it worked.

Any info would be great!

Thank you

Hi Taytay,

I always have my period induced because I have PCOS and don’t have a regular cycle. I’ve taken either norethesterone or Provera. I was prescribed 3 a day for 5 days and then my period would usually start 2-3 days after that. I never had any problems/side effects.

Good luck xxx

I have PCOS so always have to have my period induced. Usually use norehisterone, it’s fine, no problems at all really. I’ve also used microgynon to schedule my period as they’re so irregular and personally don’t love being on that but it’s a means to an end and most people don’t have any problems on it xx

I took microgynon too, because of very irregular periods. 14 days of that then starting stims/fet meds once bleed started 3 days later.

I use norethisterone too. 7-10 days worth and my period usually starts a few days after. It makes me pretty moody but nothing major xx

Yeah on my first ivf try I had to take tablets as my period wasn't regular at all and had a few months without. After taking the tablets for a week I started AF 5 days after stopping. No bad effects or anything. Quite relieved to have had AF so I could then crack on with the IVF journey. Good luck
