I had a fresh embryo transfer on Wednesday and on Friday was very bloated and crampy and yesterday (Saturday) started having cramps which resembled period type cramps- not as strong but the same type of feeling when you period is on its way.
I just don’t know what to do with myself, having had a bowel movement last night the bloating has gone down a lot but the underlying cramping pains are there.
the earliest I could test is Wednesday but my blood test isn’t until the following Tuesday.
Is it just the tablets I am on causing my period to keep away but my body wants my period to come? My period would naturally be due this weekend.
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated- I must add in case it makes a difference that this was a donor egg transfer.
Many thanks x

Hey, I had really similar symptoms from about day 5, with cramps getting increasingly stronger for a few days and staying like that until my test on day 15. I'm now 6 weeks 2 days and still having cramps. I thought exactly the same as you, that the tablets etc were preventing my period from coming. I really hope your cramps are early pregnancy cramps x
hi I hope you’re feeling better, I had mild cramps two days after transfer, the night before my OTD and also on the OTD , I thought they could be my period (fell on same date than the OTD ) but then got a nice surprise when I did the test xx
Like you I was also bloated (and constipated) so hard to tell what’s because of that and what’s because something is stretching inside or just the progesterone xx , the nurses said mild cramping was normal and that I shouldn’t worry unless I saw fresh blood xx
good luck - I’m in a similar position to you, I was having cramps too but they stopped 9dp5td. I’m actually worried as at this exact moment I have no symptoms which I’m not sure is normal- this 2WW is hard - best of luck for the both of us
The two week wait is so hard because all the symptoms for early pregnancy and periods are so similar and the meds mimic these too!
But it sounds like it could be implantation cramps! Implantation occurs betwen days 3 and 6 post transfer. I found this timeline really helpful (although the dates are old I reused it for my last cycle too and to remind myself why I shouldn’t test early and to just keep going - my last cycle was my successful one and I had lots of cramping early and then nothing. Was so sure I was out.).
You can have cramps from implantation. It took me over a week to reduce the painful bloating after transfer so sounds normal. The bloating should go down after a week or so. It's extra fluid and enlarged ovaries and not really gas or intestinal, although I was told by the clinic in London to take Buscopam. However, if your symptoms are getting worse then ask your fertility nurse. Too early to know if it hasn't worked though. Best of luck x
Hi, those cramping feelings are normal. They are caused by the medications. They are nothing to worry about and unfortunately can't tell you whether it worked or didn't. I hope you can have a smooth rest of your two week wait. xo
I had bloatedness and cramps after my fresh embryo transfer too. Likely due to the procedure and side effects of medicines. If the pain is very bad please go and see a doctor to rule out ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy etc.
Hello lovely. I had period style cramping and then a positive test. Of course it could be the meds, or it could be early pregnancy symptoms; unfortunately, it's impossible to know until you take a test. As others have said, if the pain is really strong it might be worth getting checked out.
