No period after egg retrieval

Hello all,

I had my first egg retrieval a few weeks ago and am waiting for my period to come but it is nowhere to be seen....I have not had any bleeding (except right after the retrieval) and 4 weeks have passed. It has been 6 weeks since my last period.

I took a pregnancy test the other day but BFN. Just wondering if any of you have had similar experiences? If so, when did your period eventually come and did it go back to a normal cycle after? FYI, my cycles are usually around 25-26 days.

Hiya, hope your egg collection went well. I had mine in May and my period came much earlier than usual so shortened my cycle quite a bit. I had the worse headache too.

It’s been due all week and not showing any sign of coming - other than me feeling a bit moody 🙊 but I had read this is common after egg collection as your body has been through so much plus the stress of it can delay things too. It’s annoying I know as you can’t really plan next steps 🙄 xx

Thank you CLDxxx! The thing is, mine just hasn’t come at all which I haven’t heard of happening very often. Waiting for the nurse to come back to me but it is indeed frustrating. I guess stressing out about it is not helping...

So how many weeks since your egg collection? I did expect mine to be late but having checked it came 2 weeks after collection which I think has now thrown everything out so you may well be better off having a delayed first one! Xx

It’s been 4 weeks since egg collection, 6 weeks since my last period when I started the meds for egg collection. I’m worried that the egg collection has really messed up my cycle but maybe you’re right and it will go back to normal after it comes...x

Oh I see. Yes definitely speak to the nurse and they may run a blood test to check things are ok. I’m sure though it’s just your body being a bit thrown out of sorts and the stress of ivf as well as now stressing you’re period hasn’t come. Xx

Actually they just suggested I come in for a blood test! Hopefully there will be some insight then. Thanks again and good luck with your FET xx

Hey! So nice of you to get in touch! Everything looks normal it seems so I’m still just waiting...they said if it still hasn’t started by the end of the week, I should go and see them again. So frustrating but I guess it’s better than something being wrong!

No worries ☺️ Ah well that’s positive! Hopefully it comes in the next couple of days. I’m still waiting for my 2nd one 🙄 driving me mad as it will change all my dates and I just want to know so I can plan a little bit! Xx

Just curious when your cycle ended up starting. I’m in the same boat with a egg retrieval but I also had a uterine polyp removed...4.5 weeks later and still no period. I’ve had light spotting and cramping so I thought it was coming but nothing.

It came around after 6 weeks. I got worried and went into my clinic and they did a blood test and kept telling me it was coming...it was a pain! Hang in there and go see your doctor if you’re worried!

Thanks so much for the reply! I did have bloodwork come back yesterday and it looks like I’ve ovulated and should start my cycle by next week.
