Hi There

We have just had a failed ICSI and were surprised that my husband (37) now has motility issues. Previously we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and had my son who is now 3.5 years old through IVF. After our failed round I asked the consultant if there is anything we can take and he said standard vitamins/folic acid (high street brand). When I asked him about other vitamins he said don’t waste your money as it’s all marketing but I’ve read some stories here especially with regards to Impryl so wondering if it’s worth the investment especially for motility? Just want to be in the best place when my clinic starts takin appointments.

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone.

Xxx

Hi tryingtostaycalm,

My husband used Impryl for motility issues and it significantly improved things. When we first started ttc he was taking the pregnacare ones and they made zero difference!

We were originally recommended proxeed men which was great but it’s a bit of a faff as it’s two sachets a day so when Impryl came out, we switched to that on the recommendation of our consultant x

Our doctor told us the same thing that don't waste money on those unnecessary vitamins. Changing lifestyle could help with sperm quality

We’ve both been taking impryl for 6 months. Apparently poor embryo quality is a possible issue for our two ICSI rounds not working. We had one semen analysis after 3 and a half months of taking it and it wasn’t really much different- slightly better. Every consultant we’ve ever seen has said don’t waste money on supplements but after we did the 2 failed rounds and also a relatively high sperm fragment test we were advised to start taking them

Was hoping to only take them for 6 months each before our third and final round but obviously everything is on hold so we’ve got another 3 months each. Proof is in the pudding I guess

Good luck whatever you choose x

Thanks for your response and good luck to you - I hope they have helped you guys. They look to be quite expensive and am I correct in thinking there’s one tablet a man and woman can take?

Can we do anything for poor embryo quality?x

They are expensive but given how much another round is ££ and it’s the last go I can’t not! Think 5% is the best discount I’ve ever managed to get on them

Impryl is the same for the man and woman so we just buy 6 months and share them. It’s handy as you have to take them with an empty stomach then wait an hour til you can eat. We take them first thing so if one of us forgets it’s easy to remind the other

All I’ve heard with regards to embryo quality is these Impryl and the other supplements people take. Thing with Impryl is it advised not to take anything else so that it can work optimally. So technically they aren’t too expensive because people take so many things which I can imagine is stressful xxx

We used Impryl + lifestyle changes, it made a huge difference. I'm currently 5weeks pregnant naturally! (see my previous post). Would also recommend using at home sperm test kit ExSeed - you can track count & motility and see if what your doing is making a difference, our consultant advised this - if it didn't make a difference try a different supplement etc. xx
