I came home to a letter today as they have reviewed my cycle that failed. My 1st cycle I used Buserelin and Gonal-F for stimulation. My AMH was 15.0pmol/L, 13 eggs were collected, 9 fertilised. A good quality embryo (48b) was transferred but unfortunately got a negative result. I had none suitable for freezing. This time they say they are going to use a similar protocol but a higher dose and a different medication for ovarian stimulation (Menopur 225iU). Does anyone have any experiences with a similar protocol? Thanks

Hi Cheeky_84,
Glad you’ve still had your review despite the current situation!
Can I ask, did you do long or short protocol on your last cycle?x
Thank u, I havent been in touch with the clinic but they have obviosult been reviewing my notes which is great as i m hoping when all this virus is over, It means i am still at the top of the list. I was on the long protocol x
I had three long protocol cycles that ended up nothing to freeze, changed to short protocol for my fourth and got three blasts in the freezer so it’s definitely worth asking about short (plus it’s much nicer!) as it’s supposed to improve egg quality xx
Aw thank u, it's good to find out from other people, learning all the time x
Glad you were able to have your review we used bureselin and menopur (can't remember dose but can look it up if you want me to, think it was about the same (225) then got reduced) on long protocol and got 15 eggs and 6 blasts. My AMH was 11 when it was checked around Dec 2018. Lots of luck for your next round hun xx
I was on short protocl both of my cycles due to polycystic ovaries (but diagnosis of unexplained infertility). On my second (and so far successful) cycle i was stimmed on 225iU of menopur. I responded REALLY quickly and only stimmed for 8 days in total. We got 19 eggs and from those ended up with 6 top quality blasts, one was transferred and i’m currently pregnant.
Another thing which i think really helped us was my husband last ejaculated before giving his sample a few hours before i took my trigger shot. Approx 38hours before giving his sample at the clinic which is much less than the 2-5 days guidance they normally advised. I feel like it really helped us with lots of excited new sperm full of life and eager to fertilise lol
Good luck xx
Happy you had your review. I had a similar cycle to you! But, interestingly, we're keeping my protocol the same going forward... as our review has focused on getting the embryos to develop to blastocyst (add-ons mostly). Glad you have a plan going forward xxx
I was on a short protocol this last time and it yielded better results for me. I was taking gonal f 225 and menopur 150 for 8 days.
The year before I was on long protocol and had to take menopur only for approx 2 weeks.
I believe gonal f helps produce better quality eggs. It’s a much more expensive drug than menopur.
