Prednisone & testogel as part of IVF protocol

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has expirience with prednisone (steriods) and testogel included as part of the IVF protocol. I am due to start my next cycle soon and my protocol has changed to the following:

- Estrogen priming and testogel from day 15 to day 1 of cycle

- Start stimming day 1 with 300iu menopur

Prednisone 25mg for 30 days (I assume this is started just before stimming for 30 days but I need to check?)

- Cetrocide from day 6 of stims as i have a short cycle (24 days)

- cyclogest as usual

I have low amh (4pmol at aged 33) and stage 4 endo, this protocol is supposed to support low amh.

I'm nervous mainly about the use of steriods, 25mg for 30 days seems like allot? Also nervous about how the estrogen priming may impact endo?

Also keen to hear from people who have included testogel and if there are any side effects?

Baby dust to all

Xxx

Hi, I have just had my 2nd round of Isci and this time have been on prednisolone (20mg) once a day. I was put on these as had slightly higher than normal antibodies so our consultant suggested them. I was really worried about taking them and only decided to go ahead at the last minute with them. I started on day 2 of Stims and you need to take them after breakfast so not on a empty stomach. I did notice for the first week my head felt really foggy but I soon got used to them. I was concerned about any side effects to the baby but the risk is apparantly very small. I also spoke to a friend whose a gp for his opinion and his wife went through ivf and she used them so that reassured me. I've just had a positive test so have to continue with them until 12 weeks I think.

Good luck xx

Congrats on your BFP. I am apprehensive but like you have high antibodies so I guess it's worth a shot. Is the standard protocol to take them for 12 weeks if you get a BFP?

I’ve got prednisolone (20mg) in my protocol from day 6 of my cycle onwards. I asked my Consultant if it would be worth being tested for NK cells and he said no and that he’d add in steroids just in case. He’s assured me they won’t harm the embryos or me but they’re a precaution. xx

I have been on steroids since transfer day and on 20mg. I am currently just over 13 weeks pregnant and still on 20mg. Due to start weaning off later this week and then stop altogether. Its the second time I have taken prednisolone. First time, I didn't take to them but have been better this time and did get pregnant on my 7th transfer. It sounds a lot but if it helps then why not. I took my consultants advice and have been fine with 20mg so do give it a try. Xx
