Hoping for some insight. My husband and I did two rounds of failed IVF this year and our clinic advises a 5/6months break in between cycles so we won’t be trying again until April/May 2020.
I have a low AMH but no male factor and my tubes are clear. When we were first started trying I used the digital clear blue ovulation tests and would get a solid smiley on occasion. However when I had one of my blood tests I’d had an anovulatory cycle, my periods are regular and I am just wondering if it is worth me using them again to try naturally in between waiting.
My consultant said there is a very low chance of getting pregnant naturally but I was hoping someone could tell me if I get a positive ovulation result does that mean I am definitely going to ovulate? Or would I just be wasting my money? Thanks in advance for any advice

So sorry that your first two cycles didn't work out.
Ovulation tests, the urine detection kind test for Luteinising Hormone which is the hormone that peaks just before ovulation. When you see the peak it's usually an indication that you will ovulate within the next day or so. Unfortunately this doesn't show or prove that you have ovulated. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding only a day 21 blood Progesterone test can confirm or strongly indicate that a woman has ovulated successfully).
If anyone has problems with ovulation, they could get a peak reading then not release an egg. Your body will generally attempt to gear up again in that sams cycle to try for ovulation again but, as you mentioned sometimes women just have anovulatory cycles.
If you feel that you can cope with it emotionally, I'd be tempted to continue to try naturally anyway. Your consultant said there's a very low chance of natural pregnancy but not zero chance 🙂
Hey Lizzie, thanks for your explanation and taking the time to reply. I think I might invest in some and then just take them with a pinch of salt as to not get my hope up too much! Good luck with your IVF next year, here’s to lots of 2020 BFPs xx
