Looking for good stories as I’m currently scared witless!
I went for a morning wee on weds last week to find the toilet full of red blood. No pains or anything and completely unexpected. Rushed to A&E who seemed to think it’s just a urine infection that has possibly moved in to my cervix. I was scanned and baby looked fine; heartbeat strong!
Doctor said carry on as normal (who can do this?!?) and gave me antibiotics. I have stayed off work and relaxed since then. I have a lot of stress at the min as my mum is in her last days of life too due to cancer.
Since then no more red blood but lots of brown gungey looking blood is coming out of me. Everyone is saying it’s normal, it’s old blood but I’m so worried! Has anyone else had anything like this?
Needless to say I am trying to get another appointment with the doctors this morning.

Gosh I'm so sorry you've had this scare and at the worst possible time with all that's happening to your poor mum. You are so strong, your baby has a strong heartbeat and is safe. I have read many similar stories over the years and you have to believe your Dr that everything is safe. The brown blood is definitely old blood and is great that is stopped bleeding fresh blood. Resting up and focus on spending time with your mum. Your baby is going to be just fine missy xx
I’m almost 19 weeks and have had 3 biggish red bleeds and then brown spotting at least 2/3 times a week.
I’d like to say that it’s now stopped but every time I think that, it’s then returned.
The consultant thinks the brown blood is from a now healed hematoma and just from placenta growth and says my body is slow to reabsorb old blood and so it comes out instead.
Staying off work is useless for me as I google horror stories so I just carry on as normal and rest in the evenings/weekends.
I’d say try to stay calm but that’s impossible. If you can afford to then I’d book in for a private reassurance scan (I’ve now had 6 to reassure me and I don’t even care that that’s a crazy amount!!).
Yeah if you can book a scan as soon as possible. Once you see the wee one is ok your anxiety will definitely go down.
Bleeding might be something you need to get used to and they have told me to expect more.
Even a long walk or yoga triggers spotting for me 😩...but hey ho, we got pregnant and are incredibly lucky to be in this position so I keep reminding myself of this.
I had a bleed last Monday, and when they did a scan they could see where it came from but couldn't tell me why. Everything looked fine though, but I have also been having the old blood for about a week and I hate it. But I have my first viability this Friday and hoping all still looks well. I keep telling myself, as long as it's old blood it's fine. But going through all of this, we always have that worry. Best wishes Xx
Please have a scan I had the same bleeding went for a scan and there was a strong heartbeat. Went for my 3 month scan later and they said baby had died since a week from bleeding pls get a private scan. Good luck and hope will be well for you. ❤️
