Hi, I woke up yesterday morning at 3am to blood in my pants and when I wiped. Followed by more blood and some clots. It’s bright red, fresh blood. I went to A&E but they couldn’t really do much except check me over. I called the early pregnancy unit and they can’t see me until Wednesday, so as you can imagine my anxiety is through the roof!!
I stopped bleeding at about 1pm but it has now started again. I stopped taking my cyclogest a few days ago, can this be because of that or is this the start of a miscarriage 😢

Bleeding can be so worrying, especially when you’re in that waiting period for answers. It’s good that you went to A&E, and I hope Wednesday comes quickly so you can get some clarity.
Stopping Cyclogest could be a factor, but it’s really hard to know without a scan. How far along are you? Try to rest as much as you can. Sending positive thoughts. xx
Thank you. I’ve taken the week off work and resting as much as possible. I’m 12 weeks 4 days. Fortunately the bleeding has subsided and now is only there sometimes when I wipe. Tomorrow we should be able to see baby and hope they are thriving xx
If you haven't been experiencing intense cramps, I think that it is a good sign but it doesn’t make it any less stressful! You did the right thing going to the A&E and you’re booked in for the EPU for a scan I assume, so the only other thing I could suggest is to start the progesterone again for the time being, use it rectally and avoid anything that can irritate the cervix or that elevates your heart rate e.g. intercourse, work outs.
I’ve had bleeding or brown discharge for most of the way from week 3 to week 11. Originally I was told there must be a leaky vessel cause the uterus is under so much pressure, and it would be good to avoid activities that elevate my heart rate. Then after a heavy bleeding episode (and I mean one pad an hour type of thing, blood gushing down the legs) with big clots (bigger than a coin and more towards a ping pong ball size) accompanied by a visit to the A&E and an EPU scan we learned it was a haematoma. And with any sort of bleeding in pregnancy, the advice is to take progesterone or increase the dose if you’re already taking it. I was on it until 16 weeks due to the haematoma. Then at week 11 I had another small bleeding, don’t remember whether there were clots and if they were they were small, but I went back to the EPU for a scan and they found that the placenta was growing over the cervix and you can experience bleeding from that.
There’s lots of reasons why you can experience bleeding in pregnancy but the risk of miscarriage is fairly low by 12 weeks, so don’t automatically assume it’s something bad. You’ve done all the right things and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that it’s all good news for you tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I had bleeding at 12-14 weeks after stopping progesterone. I had my 12 week scan and started bleeding soon after. Like you I was so so anxious but as others have said, it might all be ok.
I think I would pester my midwife or EPU a little to see if they can see you before but it might all be ok.
in my case it was definitely the progesterone and baby is now a very loud toddler I have to collect in a couple of mins so it doesn’t have to be terrible news
I bleed with my 1st pregnancy. Bright red blood. This was at 6 weeks. It was a hematoma. They say rest doesn’t help but I would if I were you. Good luck. My baby is now 6 years old.
