hi ya I really would like some advice I’m 6 weeks pregnant and since taking cyclogest iv been bleeding when I wipe myself this morning it went on to a pad and a fair bit when I wiped iv been spotting for a few days iv had 5 mc so as you can imagine iv been having meltdowns. I wasnt bleeding/spotting before I started cyclogest vaginally. I take 400mg morning and evening for the past 5 days I’m also on aspirin 150mg for a blood condition that affects pregnancy’s. I had a scan the day they gave me cyclogest and everything was ok it was too early to see the baby’s heart beat and I have a rescan for next Thursday. Iv managed to get in tomorrow at 9.15 because of the bleeding is there anyone out there who has any experience like mine with cyclogest or have any information iv heard bleeding can be a side affect but I’m so heartbroken that I even seen blood it the last thing I wanted to see
thank you xxx

At 5+3 I had spotting, which progressed to bleeding and clots. I was taking cyclogest vaginally but was told to switch to rectally when I had the bleeding. Did your clinic suggest that?
I don’t know what caused the bleeding for me but all ended up okay and I have a 3 year old boy now. I always comment when I see posts about bleeding in pregnancy as I know just how scary it is. I’ve noticed between 5-6 weeks is a really common time for bleeding and seems especially common in ivf pregnancies.
If you click my username you can read my post about it. I had great advice from everyone. I’ve read about lots of positive outcomes but I can understand your worry. It’s a horrible waiting time but I hope you stay strong and hopeful 💗
Thank you for responding, no the clinic never told me anything really just said it was safe and to take it twice a day now I’m bleeding and it’s freaked me out. Your comment has made me feel better and more at ease x
Hi Lminxx. Oh dear. Perhaps try the pessaries in your back passage, in case they are irritating the cervix. The scan should really be done 6-7 weeks as you rarely see the heartbeat beforehand. Hope you get good news at your next scan. Thinking of you. Diane
Hi thanks for commenting I will try the pesseries the way you suggested tonight as it well be the cervix. I had a scan so early to see if it was in the womb as iv had a ectopic pregnancy before but they looked me over for about 15 minuits and said it was all fine and to come back in 10 days for the confirmation of the heart beat but in between that time iv took the pesseries and now bleeding so there getting g me in tomorrow
The bleeding has eased off a bit now think it could have been the clot causing the flow I’m going out of my mind still but will just have to wait till tomorrow morning for scan. I’m hoping I get a good outcome I really do xx
Will be thinking of you, I haven't had a journey quite as difficult as yours, but had a bleed at 10 weeks and was terrified, but luckily it was a good outcome for us in the end. Try and rest up if you can x
So horrible but it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst as that happened to me too - a huge clot! Thinking of you and hoping your wait goes quickly xxx
have you contacted your clinic? Do they not have an emergency contact number or tried contacting the early pregnancy unit at your local hospital? In hospital they can examine you and check your beta hcg.
The clinic might suggest increasing the progesterone and check your level.
I also agree with Dianne, use the cyclogest rectally, my Dr thinks that absorption rectally is far superior to vaginal administration, so hopefully that will raise your levels and the bleeding may just be from cervix (from the suppositories).
A scan hopefully will reassure you, and as to whether you will continue aspirin - as that will increase your bleeding risk - please speak to your Dr at the clinic or EPU.
It’s an awful time, your anxiety will be through the roof, I hope you have support. I was in a similar situation - not a happy ending but for others on here, I’m pretty sure lots had a similar story with a positive outcome.
Hi yes I phoned them they said to come in tomorrow but reassured me it is probably the pesserie as it irritate the cervix but because of my previous I freak out at blood there. I have to take aspirin in pregnancy as I have a blood condition. The clinic never told me these side affects or anything I thought cyclogest was supposed to stop the blood not cause it so confusing x
I’m sorry you’re going through this I am 6+1 today but had a fairly decent red bleed at 5+3 then clots the next day. And I’ve been spotting ever since 😪
I did a hcg blood test the day after the bleed and my clinic were happy with the results but I have to wait til my scan on Wednesday. Check my last post there are lots of helpful comments from people who have had similar and had positive outcomes. Fingers crossed for you xx
I’m glad the bleeding has eased off for you iv just woke up and really scared to go toilet iv got a scan at 9.30 thank you for responding all the help and support is giving me hope x
I know everyone's situation is different, but cyclogest always made me bleed at that dose too. I've had no bleeding as was on utrogestan and ran out. My EPU wanted me to take progesterone up to 16 weeks so prescribed cyclogest. At 14 weeks with no previous bleeding in previous weeks, within 3 days of taking cyclogest I started bleeding until I passed a clot. Then it stopped, I decided not to take anymore cyclogest as I've had terrible bleeding during previous pregnancies and have a clotting condition and it didn't return. So if taking cyclogest is the only change and seems to be causing the bleeding then it probably is. I also spoke to 111 Dr and a nurse and they agreed it was probably the progesterone. The scan will help settle your nerves too. Good luck x
Thank you I really don’t rate cyclogest I hate seeing blood as I always think it’s the end because of my past. It took me a while to get pregnant after all my losses and now I’m bleeding I have a scan at 9.30 today I’m so scared xx
I started gushing at 3am so was quite scary, it was bright red and thin (I'm on aspirin and blood thinning injections). Every time I would wipe there would be blood and if I got up I'd feel it squirt. So this went on for an hour until I went for a number 2. Passed a clot and that was that, no more active bleeding! I just knew it was the cyclogest as before I took it I wondered if it would cause a bleed. Even with failed cycles, whenever I had a bleed it would be super clotty. So I think it's the brand as I was on 200mg utrogestan and no bleeding! I also had my pregnancy symptoms so felt reassured. It is such a pain, see if you can switch to another brand. I always take it rectally so it's clearly just the way I react to it x
You have the exsactly condition as me I’m on aspirin as I have sticky blood they called it (factor 5 ledan) they are putting me on injections too. Iv put the cyclogest re tally last night and this morning and it seems the bleeding has eased off but it’s just so scary isn’t If it’s all ok I’m going to ask to be put on what you are on thank you x
Yes I was going to do the same if Dr's insisted but as I was 14 weeks and got my progesterone tested I didn't want feel the need to take anymore. I have PAI 4g/5g and MTHFR, both mean in pregnancy my blood starts clotting. As I was a patient of St Mary's for recurrent miscarriage, I had a TEG test which monitors your clotting amptitude. When not pregnant my result was OK, just showed once my blood clotted it couldn't unclot. I was told at 6 weeks I need to test, this time despite being on 75mg aspirin and 20mg clexane I still came back at the highest clotting amptitude so had to up aspirin to 150mg and clexane to 40mg. Please get on those injections ASAP x
hi everyone I went for a scan they have detected heartbeat but it is quite faint we’re I’m so early but the bleeding has come from some blood around the pregnancy sac so now I’m worried about that but I’m going to speak to the dr when he is free so just waiting around thank you for your support everyone x
Wishing you lots of luck! I bled everyday from 5 weeks up to about 9 weeks, and I’m almost 18 weeks now. It’s often nothing, doesn’t stop it being terrifying though xx
hey, this is good news. Try to see the positive from this, I’m really pleased that they were able to detect baby’s heartbeat xxx I hope you’re taking it easy now and being spoilt rotten x
Yes they done a internal and found it straight away they wa t me to come back on Thursday which I was my original app anyway as we could see a flutter but be able to see more on Thursday it’s just the bleeding g round the sa. I’m worried about now but that can be normal too they said but I’m my cases iv never had good luck so hopefully this time I will x
Just popping back in here, really pleased that the bleeding has improved and you are on the way to getting that heartbeat. They weren't sure but it's likely that I had a little bleed from around the aac as well, I've also had a couple of friends who had the same and went on to have healthy babies. Hope the next few days go okay for you until your next scan x
thank you I always get so worried when I see blood as it’s normally not good news but it has stopped now I still think it was the cyclogest as well as the sac as iv stopped using it vaginally and it’s stopped x
hi guys so yesterday at my scan the lady who carried it out was so rude to me. She said there was a weak heartbeat and did t explain anything to me she was so rude I had to ask for another person to do the scan after the scan I spoke to the nurse and she wasn’t so concerned as she said I’m lucky to have seen anything this early on so iv had mixed message and I can’t sleep at night now has anyone got any advice on this please thanks you again for your support I think this page is so good we’re everyone comes together thank you
Dear please stay calm leave everything on God. As if you too concern and take tension it’s definitely not good. Just relax plz make your self busy in positivity plz think something else.
Wishing you all the best, I really hope everything is going as it should xx
of course, it’s an incredibly anxious time. I hope the scan is reassuring tomorrow and you get to have a bit of rest and relaxation over the Xmas period.
thank you bleeding has practically stopped now but just still so nervous xx
yes, totally get that. I know there isn’t anything I can say to take that anxiety away. Maybe try watching some mindless Christmas tv drivel to stay distracted. Take care. Its so tough x
so I went for my scan and they could not detect a heartbeat at all this time so I have lost my baby again this is the 6th time in a row and I have no children I’m loosing hope they said the baby was not well and no amount of medication could of saved it and have high hopes for next time. Me on the other hand is loosing hope all together thank you everyone for your support and hope you all have a lovely Christmas and new year ❤️. I’m devasted x
I'm so so sorry, I was really hoping you'd have good news. I think for now just take the time to grieve, it must be so painful. Try to accept support from your friends and family if you can x
