HMG FET protocol... any advice after thin lining on HRT protocol

Prayingforafamily profile image

Looking for advice. I have had a number of fresh and frozen cycles cancelled due to thin lining... never getting above 6mm. I have just had a HRT protocol 2 dummy runs back to back on 12mg progynova and viagra but still a poor 5.1 lining. I have seen some ladies on here talking about thin lining and HMG cycle? What is this? Could it be an option as I think my clinic are ready to give up on me? X TIA

Hi dear even my lining was never going up more than 7.9 mm so two cycle cancelled but on this cycle I did some changes I was on oral tablet once and gel on midthigh twice with lot of walking mild slow walk for 150 minutes and some free exercise mild exercises not heavy once for one month prior to this cycle and also exercise plus walk during the cycle till embryo transfer so my lining went up to 11.9mm on the day of transfer....so just start your mild slow walk 150 mins plus some free exercises it really helped and it will help you too

All the best💕💕💕

I could only dream of 7.9, mine was 5.1 today at day 12 on 12mg of progynova. I’m going to certainly try to get some walking in now that’s for sure!

Ive never heard of this before. Sorry to hear that things havent improved. The only thing apart from stepping back the progynova and adding in more patches (combination of both) which has helped me this time along with raspberry leaf tea (no idea if it helped but first time Ive tried it). Ive read a bit about some ladies using tamoxifen to help inprove their lining as a last resort, might be worth asking about. My clinic said they didnt have any success with viagra at all.xx

Yes very frustrating. Still at 5.1 with 12mg progynova. Blood tests showed that I am taking on Estrogen well just my uterus will not respond. I had read about Tamoxifen and I’m going to ask them about this when I go back Thursday. Xx how are you?

Im doing ok thanks! We fly out to Athens for transfer on Thursday. My clinic are of the belief that having the two means of getting estrogen into you with both patches and progynova was the way forward as I'd tried high oral doses before. I wasnt sure whether to trust or not but went with it and my lining this time is better as glt01 said too. I was on 8mg of progynova and 2x100 patches every 48 hours. Still think the tamoxifen is worth a discussion too. Good luck.xx

I will certainly put this to them. I have to carry on with 6 orally and 6 vaginally until another scan on Thursday. I don’t think my clinic like to think out the box but then I think I am about of an enigma to them tbh. Good luck for Thursday I will be keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for you xxx

I too seem to be a bit of an oddity however I do believe that there is something out there that can help. It gives you something else to try and whilst there is something else then you have a chance!! Thank you for your well wishes.xx

My first FET attempt they cancelled due to a 6mm lining that then dropped quite significantly. They added in oestrogen patches on top of the 10mg progynova dose as they said sometimes a different absorption path can help. It did the trick and we've now had a successful FET. I think my lining was just below 8mm when they did the transfer but it wasn't going to get any thicker and they were worried it was going to reduce again.

Maybe ask the clinic for patches aswell as the tablets. Good luck x

Thanks for this, I had bloods taken today and it looks like I am taking on the Estrogen well but my uterus is just not responding. I will suggest the patches though.. nothing to lose.

1000 iu vitamin e and a drug called pentoxyfiline helped my thin lining. Estrogen and tamoxifen did nothing as my problem was not hormonal but turned out to be more of a blood flow issue.
