Starting IVF short protocol today - how does it work?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has been through this and can provide any guidance. I had my baseline scan today for my first ever IVF cycle, they found a 4cm simple cyst but a blood test showed that it's not producing hormones so I'm free to start the injections tonight. I'm on 450 menopur as I have a low AMH. Firstly has anyone done a cycle with a cyst hst big and did it impact success rates? Also I was so wondering if anyone can share timelines as it's quite hard getting information out of tghe NHS. If I start injections tonight will egg collection be in 12 days time ? I'm trying to plan with work.

Hello

I’m currently on my third round at short protocol (the other two were cancelled due to lack of response). In short protocol you usually are doing the ovarian stimulation injections(stims) for 10-14 days but can go as long as 16-17 days. The length of time completely depends on your response; your follicle growth, lining growth and oestrogen levels. Depending on your clinic you will have a number of appointments to check bloods and scans to check your progress. After a week the nurses or doctors will usually be able to gauge how well you are responding and when egg collection will be. Unfortunately it’s not the NHS playing coy it’s just really difficult to predict especially if it’s your first cycle.

I'm currently on same protocol. Had my baseline scan last Thursday and started stims that night. I had a scan today to check how I've responded. I've got 8 follicles so far. Ive a scan weds and Fri too. I'm expecting egg collection sometime early next week. The only difference between us is that I have high amh. I'm on 37.5 menopur, 150 fostimon and fyremadel. Think it's 12 days total like you say before trigger shot x
