Bleed before test date

Hi all, in the past I have always bleed before my OTD on both fresh cycles.

My question is - does this mean there is a problem with my progesterone levels?

The only times I didn’t bleed before the test date was our first frozen transfer which I miscarried and our second frozen transfer but that was a fail too.

I asked the clinic and the nurse of the phone said that some women do come on before the test date but with a frozen you don’t because you are taking progynova as well as pessaries. She told me not to worry!

But I’m confused and just want to know if there are other things I can do so that we don’t waste our final round.

Usually I always accept what my clinic tells me but I’m beginning to have doubts x

Hey, my consultant explained otherwise! And it totally makes sense. I also bled before test day with my fresh cycle.

In a fresh cycle the drugs accelerate your whole cycle so your lining is more advanced earlier than it would normally be in a non stimulated cycle. So it will shed sooner too. This is why in an FET cycle, people often do better. The e-freeze trial also demonstrated that frozen cycles are more successful. Xx

Hi Orla,

Ok, so it is something that I shouldn’t worry about? I just get anxious for answers as to why it’s not working!!

Thank you for commenting x

Is your final round going to be a fresh round, or are you doing a frozen transfer of a remaining embryo?x

It’s going to be a fresh round as we have no frozen embryos. We have only ever had 1 to transfer and 1 to freeze x

Hey Violet, I bled before my test day on my fresh cycle too, I also have endometriosis so feel that progesterone is possibly an issue for me - I mentioned this to my clinic and they are going to give me injections as well as pessaries for my FET although they say what they give you is enough, I’ve seen ladies on here who have needed more progesterone so it’s worth exploring if you aren’t sure. My clinic don’t usually test progesterone levels but I’m feeling anxious about it so have requested they test my levels on transfer day for piece of mind. Good luck with your next round xx

Hello. That’s a good idea. Is it a blood sample they test on day of transfer?

I went to get my progesterone levels checked on my own last month and the GP phoned to say that ovulation did occur. But she never gave me the numbers. At the time I didn’t say anything and I’m mad at myself for not asking more. When I phoned back, the receptionist said it would be on my records.

Will definitely ask my clinic. Thanks and good luck x

Yes they can do a blood test to check what your levels are. Don’t worry about not asking your doctor at the time you can ask them for a print out next time you are there, I did the same with my general tests before starting ivf, was told they were normal but wanted to check exactly what they were for piece of mind. Good luck with everything wishing you well for your next cycle xxx
